The restaurant at Hotel San Marco impresses with a 3 star kitchen niveau but not with such prices. The starters are fresh, good portions, nicely arranged and decorated. The Beef Tartar is an absolute hit, as is the Carpaccio! The choices of main dishes are quite internationally with an Austrian and Styrian touch! The sizzled filet steak in Whiskey sauce might not be the newest invention, but highly delicious and prepared to the very point in our case medium rare! All fresh vegetables, no frozen quality! The potato vedges were hand cut! The pork tournedoes equally good, slightly rose colored, tender and juicy. Here also the vegetables fresh! The signature dish Schnitzel San Marco very crispy with a nice bread crust and most astonishingly with Basmati rice, instead of the unfortunately in gastronomy often used and completely tasteless parboiled rice! The Kasnocken an Austrian spéciality were served hot on a cast iron plate with crunchy onions, melting cheese on Nockerl, which is an Austrian kind of noodle dough! The semisweet Grauburgunder was an absolute hit, fitting all the wishes of all participants of this wonderful dinner! Unfortunately because of that wonderful and plenty dinner, we were not able to enjoy a desert, which will have to wait for another visit at this wonderful restaurant!
