Swing and a miss! This place has all of the fixings of a nice restaurant charming setting indoors/trying their best outdoors, elegant California menu with some French classics, and creative cocktails , but they can't stick the landing. We scouted this place for an anniversary dinner and we were excitedly planning our orders for weeks in advance. Major bummer. We ordered a variety of oysters, the butternut squash soup, the halibut, and the duck. The only thing I would order again was the soup. The oysters were tiny, but otherwise fine. The fish was over cooked, under seasoned, small, and served with basically a scoop of sautéed kale ? . As for my duck, the breast was cooked perfectly but the leg confit was burnt and dry. I believe this came with endive, chard, and berry compote all tasty , but the ratio of protein to the rest of the dish was way too high and everything felt unbalanced. We both enjoyed our cocktails duck old fashioned and clarified english punch however, I would recommend going to their cocktail lounge down the street, Amandine, if you just want cocktails. The service was slow and not that knowledgeable of the menu. Overall, this restaurant experience was inconsistent, disappointing and worst of all but par for the course in the peninsula OVER PRICED. I think if it was 25% cheaper, it wouldn't have left such a bad taste in my mouth.
