This was my first visit to Humphreys under the new ownership and I was very disappointed indeed. I went there at approximately 6 pm and ordered cod and chips. The cod was very thin in depth, the flesh dry, too much batter was used and was warm, not hot. The chips were very dry, were warm, not hot, and had obviously been sitting around for a good while. When the previous owners were there the fish was thick, the batter thinner and the chips always piping hot and fresh. Humphreys used to be the best fish and chip shop for miles but, unfortunately, it is no longer. I have been using Humphreys at Camer corner for 15 years. Andy and his wife built up a good business on supplying great food. The new owners have continued in the same way, the fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked, the chips are also just right, not greasy and slimy like other shops but perfectly firm and a joy to eat. Why take a chance else where when you can go to Humphreys and know that every time you buy their fish and chips, you are getting top quality at a very competitive price. We purchased two large portions of cod and one large portion of chips. The fish was tasty and cooked freshly, but the batter was a bit undercooked. The portion of chips was excessively large (enough for four or more people) and not very hot. Please note that the restaurant is now called McCoy's Fish Bar, not Humphrey's.
This is one of the top-rated fish and chip shops in the area. However, I recommend always ordering your fish to be cooked fresh on the spot as it may not be as good if it has been sitting in the display cabinet for too long. The only time I was disappointed was when I took home pre-cooked fish.

Why is it when visiting this shop u have to wait for the fish to be cooked ? Every time is the same u have to wait what’s the point of having a take away when u have to wait u might as well be sitting in not impressed sorry
This is a jolly local take-away which sells some of the best (fresh, moist) cod we have ever had. The service is fast and friendly, the premises are spotless and the food isjust perfect for a hungry person on the go...
Ordered a delivery. Arrived on time. Fish was flat and swimming in oil There was nothing exciting to mention about the chips. Very expensive for a terrible meal. What a shame!
Visited here many times as the fish and chips are of excellent quality but the girl behind the counter is arrogant and rude..

Had fish and chips from here and the fish was really fresh and well cooked. The chips were ok but not as good as the fish.
This is the best fish and chips I have had in years. The staff was friendly and the prices were fair.
