We ended up here because we had decided to try someplace we had never been, threw some restaurant names in a hat and this was the winner. What a nice surprise!This place has character, not in the normal sense because it's just bright and plain, simple tables and chairs and booths, no dim lighting, very Mom and Pop Asian,but completely appropriate for the place.We had a sizzling platter noodle dish (sorry the proper Korean name is beyond me) with prawns, chicken and beef with veggies; also beef short ribs in a soy sauce, also on a sizzling platter. Went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a former Fort St. John resident. Well, this restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but it is amazing. I love Korean food so was delighted to find this place. There are lots of Japanese and Western food options on the menu for the less food adventurous types. I had Bul-go-gi and it was fantastic. Prices are good too. Service was great. I will definitely be back to Hungry Bear whenever I am back in FSJ.

This is a restaurant I gladly recommend! the food was fantastic and so fresh and the service great! they serve a combination of Japanese and Korean dishes that appeal to many tastes as well as more western fare if you're after a burger. However, do not expect the usual plate plain fare as they serve it up with style and relish giving more than you think is coming. I cannot say enough about this small restaurant!

Went to Hungry Bear with my daughter. We went on recommendation of another family member - good recommendation! Neither of us could finish our dinner, the tea was hot and full bodied and the service was sincere and sensitive to our visiting. I had the seafood Udo soup and it was awesome. Will be going again, I mean regularly.

Good food, great service....Hungry bear sounded like a burger kind of place till i went in and they had everything from burgers to Asian food, so you are not limited to one menu...Fries was super good. I would definitely recommend it and would go there again

We stopped in town for the evening & found this restaurant for dinner. The menu is extensive, for appetizers as well as entrees. It was well prepared & delicious. Our party of 4 ordered the Asian style items and all of us were pleased.

There was a generous amount of bears, bordering on excessive. Service was top notch, polite and prompt.
