As a 54 year old resident of Hampton, VA I have eaten at this IHOP numerous times. Today is the last time I will ever eat at this location. Why? First, I tried to place an online order. After entering my cc information an alert informed me there was an error and I would need to call to place an order. When I called, the person I spoke with repeatedly asked me to repeat myself due to her being very distracted. To stop this process from torturing me, I stated I would come to the restaurant and place my order. Secondly, when I arrived 12:30 pm , I placed my order with Faith who was very helpful and professional. Once my order was ready, Faith took care of me. Once I exited the restaurant and returned to my car, I was told by my companion that I smelled of weed and black and milds . We do not smoke nor have we ever been smokers of legal or illegal substances. When I got home the smell was in my clothing, my hair, and my skin. How could this be when I was only in the restaurant for 15 to 20 minutes? More importantly, why did the restaurant smell like this? Thirdly, my companion and I suffered gastrointestinal discomfort less than an hour after eating the meals we purchased at this IHOP! We ordered french toast, pancakes, an omelet, bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns. I do not know if the uncleanliness of the restaurant caused the food not to agree with us but I am sure it contributed. This experience left me wondering if the people cooking the meal were properly trained. Please close and clean this IHOP from head to toe, hire and train individuals who will be excited to represent IHOP, and stop serving mediocre meals that are not meeting the standard of the IHOP I grew up on. I will visit the IHOP in Newport News, VA but NEVER this IHOP location again. You have lost a very loyal customer!
