Visited Il Bacaro with some friends recently, after a gap of a couple of years. Don't know why, but our friends seem to prefer the Southbank restaurants, but this time it was our choice and we were not disappointed.It's a small restaurant so reservations are a must. The menu is not extensive, but choosing what you want to eat is difficult, because all courses on offer are so appealing. The three courses were chose were fantastic, making you want to return to sample the other courses.The restaurant has quite an extensive wine list, offering mostly Italian wines, but also a selection of good Australian wines, but they are all expensive. My sister and I had a lovely evening in this wonderful resaurant. We are not by any means well versed in all things associated with wine, and were mostly looking forward to the food aspect of the establishment. I was concerned as we were not looking to spend a fortune on a bottle at a wine bar that we may have been treated differently. This was not the case. The staff were attentive, but non intrusive, and all worked well as a team. The food was exceptional; my lamb backstrap the highlight. The chocolate fondant dessert, devine. The bill came and i considered it to be very well priced. Infact i expected it to be more. Thanks to Il Bacaro for a great night out. I will be back.

We visited Il Bacaro on Friday evening last, my second visit to this restaurant during that week. On arrival, we received an extremely warm welcome from Robert. Seated at the table, we sought the advise of the sommelier (Jay) as to our wine choice, his recommendation was excellent and the wine was thoroughly enjoyable. The wine complimented our food choices in both starters and main courses, again sumptuous. We finished off the evening by sharing a delicious desert washed down with a limoncello. Food, wine, ambiance and service, simply superb and well worth a visit.

I went here for dinner here last week and the food was fantastic! I had the spaghettini which was cooked to perfection (very generous with portion size and Morton Bay bugs) and cheese cake for dessert which was outstanding! The wine at this restaurant is also lovely and went very well with our meals. Staff were attentive and friendly, we had a great meal and would recommend coming here. Reserva una mesa ahora

Staff here really know their stuff. Authentic dishes and interesting and different specials. Always ask about the specials. I found the entree pasta to be the right size for lunch, my husband enjoyed his special pasta too. Great portion sizes and just enough sauce. Price is not cheap; but that's what you pay for great food and knowledgable service. Enjoy!

This special small Italian hatted restaurant in the cute Flinders lane always serves special and tasty food along with good service . Food is always beautifully presented and cooked with a good menu range with good seasonal specials .Restaurant has a nice feel about it for special and intimate get togethers .

5 stars!My husband and I came in lastnight and it was like walking into a house in Italy!.We had a warm welcome from Robert who treated us like old friends rather than customers. We had the spaghettino which was amazing. The staff were very attentive and professional. I will be back on my next trip.

I've been to this restaurant three times now (business lunches) and I can't fault it. The waiting staff are attentive and professional and the food is absolutely fabulous. If you're looking for an intimate restaurant with a terrific menu, you can't go wrong with Il Bacaro. Reserva una mesa ahora

Had a lovely dinner with my wife, the food was terrific- melt in your mouth calamari, duck (a little tough, very good flavor) scallops and red emperor fish. Service was very good, the only minor negative is the tables are very close together. Outstanding wine list

Perfect food Great service and lovely atmosphere So nice to go somewhere with a business colleague and be able to hear each other and have a great conversation.
