We stumbled upon In Good Company by chance one Friday afternoon between Christmas 2023 and New Year's. The menu and the building looked promising, although we had no expectations. We walked in at 4pm and were able to secure a reservation for 6:30. When we arrived, we were seated at our table and were pleasantly surprised by the impeccable service, the delicious food (with a variety of gluten-free options), the cozy atmosphere, and the lack of noise. We would love to frequent this restaurant more often, but unfortunately, it is a 3 1/2 hour drive from our home. If you find yourself in Rockland, ME, make sure to check out In Good Company.
I think the restaurant may want to rename itself “In Good Food.” I ordered the beef tenderloin with a butter blue cheese topping. The beef arrived with a temperature just as I had ordered. The butter blue cheese complemented the beef rather than overwhelming it. That alone made the meal. Good Company offers some decent wines and cocktails. I tried the maple “old fashion” and enjoyed the blending of flavors. Service was good and the restaurant has a cozy upscale atmosphere. In Rockland, this is one of the better dining experiences.
If you go to mid coast Maine, you have to have dinner at In Good Company! And you have to make a reservation ahead of time to do that. The chef Melody is the best chef ever. Although I am not a huge fish eater, i love the way Melody cooks fish—it honestly melts in your mouth. The beef tenderloin is exquisite. The pate is such a treat. Well I could go on and on. And everyone is very friendly and welcoming. And the atmosphere is cozy.
I am extremely impressed with this restaurant! The chef worked wonders in the small kitchen, creating magic with every dish. I was blown away by the quality and presentation of the dishes. All the meat was sourced locally and even the whipped cream was hand-whipped. I highly recommend this place.

My husband and I found this gem and were so impressed with the menu, service and atmosphere. Food was creative and delicious, service was friendly and well-timed, and the prices were extremely reasonable!
Missed this one on my last visit. Ate here twice on this trip. Fresh ingredients and innovative sauces. The wait staff are very attentive and are knowledgeable about the menu and wines.
We enjoyed our meal here. Tasty foods and nice eclectic touch. We didn’t have a reservation so we had to sit at the bar. Overall good and we would return when back in town again.
A touch slow to get cooked food but worth the wait. Sword fish small but excellently cooked sauce delightful. A little too noisy for me, table cloths might help that.

The food and service were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and character of the restaurant. We are excited to return in the future.
