India Gate Exclusive Indian Cuisine

We visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening , there were 6 of us including an almost 2 year old . The place was not busy which was a concern but it should not have been . We have a number of dietary issues in our family from Celiac to Vegetarian . Indian food is almost completely gluten free except for the nan bread and samosas , also there are lots of vegetarian options available. We had a variety of dishes both meat and vegetarian , the butter chicken was superb , as was my Shrimp Vindaloo , very spicy just the way I like it , the Aloo Gobi and Mattar Paneer had just the right amount of spice and flavour , one of our party had the goat curry and refused to share so it must have been good. The appetizer platter is a good way for a family to start a meal here . The vegetable samosas are particularly delicious . The nan bread was close to the best I have ever had . No disappointments here , even the baby enjoyed herself !

Had a craving for Indian food and decided to meet up with a friend at India Gate. I should mention that my friend is from Wales and not only has extensive knowledge of Indian cuisine but was basically weened on it and knows quality Indian food. My friend couldn't stop singing it's praises saying how authentic this was and that it was the best Indian food he had since moving to Canada 14 years ago. I myself have much less experience with this type of food but I know good food when I taste it and this place was excellent. We had an extensive talk with the owner who was very nice and we learned that everything (and I do mean everything) is prepared from scratch. The final product was fresh and had incredible flavours. I highly recommend India Gate and I know that we will be back soon.

A great go to for superb Indian take out. Naan bread done in their own tandoor oven, samosas homemade and rice was beautifully light and fluffy. I had lamb vindaloo and the heat was spectacular. I would highly recommend for take out. The in house dining experience seems to be weak due to lack of atmosphere and age of interior. That being said most of the Indian places that are slick looking have food that isn't very good. Don't let the sketchy strip mall scare you. It's well worth the stop to eat their food. Would've given five stars if I had eaten in the resto and the service was stellar.

The food is excellent and assistance from the staff if you are in need of help when ordering is first class. Nice clean restaurant with linen tablecloths, fast service ,but you do not feel rushed. Have been many times and it is top notch!

They have a good buffet which is not very big but provides enough choices. They also provide Halal choices which is something hard to find in Newmarket.
