I was visiting my family in Edmonton and as a lover of sushi I invited the family out for dinner. Not having had Sushi here before I, like most people decided to go online and check out the reviews and thats how I came across Izakaya Tomo. Well what a disappointment. Sorry Edmonton but if you think this is good sushi than you haven't been to a good sushi restaurant. We ordered, the food came, we tried it, we all looked at each other, asked for the bill ( $91.00 ) paid it and headed to another restaurant. Other than the spring rolls everything else was tasteless and bland, the tuna sashimi was low quality, the spicy tuna roll looked like cat food and didn't taste much better. Sorry for the ba...

Japanese food is so broad and diverse, until recently one could pretty much only experience sushi as an expression of their cuisine.Lately, Izakaya establishments have been opening up and I am so happy to support this trend! Izakaya food is pretty much Japanese bar food. All sorts of fun deep-fried goodness and other healthy dishes are available which are such a welcome change from only experiencing sushi and ramen!Of all the Izakaya in Edmonton, this place has the best food. Their drinks are fun & authentic as well with many different options to try.The location may be a bit off the beaten path, but you'll not be disappointed you made the trip there. The staff is friendly and food comes out...

My partner and I are both hospitality managers, with decades of hands-on food service background between us. We really look forward to dining out experiences, as opposed to eating out. We enjoyed the sometimes hilarious, but always welcoming, cheer from the entire team as each customer would enter and exit the restaurant. Our server Terry was seriously a delightful addition to our delicious dinner. His energy and passion for sharing his thorough knowledge of their fresh food sources and beverage history was really a treat for us.

This is a very nice spot for a taste of a variety of Japanese dishes. The food was very fresh and we enjoyed the wide variety of 'tapas style dishes'. The only problem is the portions are so small and for the price you pay you can barely afford a meal that would completely fill you up. There were four of us we had around 10 dishes to share, with sake and desert the bill came to 160+$ and was still very hungry. Something to just keep in mind. Other than that it was a nice experience. Reserva una mesa ahora

Straight forward but very tasty and enjoyed sampling small dishes. Bring friends so you have room to try more. Everything is very tasty, enjoyed their tuna kimchi very much and their sushi as well. The tako yaki is always fun to order but very filling. Would like to see more variation in dishes and would love to have somewhere to eat fresh sea urchin.

This place has by far some of the coolest Japanese style food and drink in town. You'll note that the local Japanese community comes here ALOT. Try the carbonara and wash it down with some sake or Japanese craft beer...the sushi is awesome too ! Aragato Gozai Mashita Izaskaya San ! OSU !

My Japanese friends told me about this place. I was here more then once. I think it's the best Japanese restaurant in Edmonton. Everything is so delicious. I take always tako yaki and beef tataki for appetizer. The staff is very friendly. It's easy to park near the restaurant.

It's been a few years since my last visit to Izakaya Tomo so we decided to check it out for some birthday shenanigans Tuesday evening. Reserva una mesa ahora
