J.a. Heneghan's Tavern

The restaurant served a dish called "margherita flatbread" which was essentially just cheese pizza with basil. It did not taste like traditional margherita pizza at all. The server appeared annoyed even though the restaurant was not busy and spent most of their time chatting with colleagues behind the bar. I have worked as a server for over five years and understand that sometimes things can get hectic, but waiting 15 minutes for the check after finishing our meal was unacceptable, especially when it was clear the server could have easily come over. I was in the area for birdwatching and will be looking for a different place to eat next time.

After we get a good evaluation of the family we decided to give heneghans another attempt. in the past, the quality of food was not consistent. I couldn't be disappointed today. we ordered a hamburger and chicken sandwich with buratta. the chicken sandwich was cold and soggy. the hamburger was ordered “medium”. it came less than rare. the outside was kard, but the inner texture and color was raw. we couldn't eat the hamburger. we like to support our local businesses, but the quality must be there.

We had a great time here last night celebrating a cousin's newborn and a birthday with the family. Our waitress, Ellen, was incredibly hospitable and attentive throughout the night. She made excellent menu suggestions and was friendly and helpful when we made the wrong choices. Overall, it was a fantastic atmosphere and definitely worth a visit!

I like to go with friends to this restaurant with my warmest recommendations. I go their often. This recommendation is always successful. This was our first visit to this restaurant and we had a pleasant experience. The atmosphere was nice, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. We enjoyed the braincakes and the fish and chips, both of which were tasty. We will definitely return in the future.
