Tonight I had the distinct pleasure of dining at Henneghans Tavern: a new culinary gem recently opened in Point Lookout. The ambience at Henneghans is the perfect combination of neighborhood bar in the front room and high end bisro in the dining room. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive and our server Jackie was pleasant and very professional. Executive chef Nicol has put together a menu that is a wonderful combination of fine dining and traditional comfort food that offers dining options for just about every guest. I, and another member of our party enjoyed her amazing New England clam chowder that was a perfect combination of just the right amount of clams and potatoes with a subtle suggestion of smokiness. The crab encrusted salmon, partnered with the lemon risotto was delicious. Our dining companions found their baked clam and autumn salad appetizer and herbed chicken partnered with mushroom risotto and dijon pork chop paired with colcannon entres equally pleasing. For desert we were fortunate enough to sample chef Chris' off the menu, homemade chocolate ice cream topped by a toasted marshmallow. The subtle addition of chocolate chips and nuts to the ice cream made this combo reminiscent of smores...yum! We also split a lovely apple/pear tart that was housed in a perfect crust. All in all, this was a truly delightful dining experience. Kudos to all!
