If a spaceship from a far off galaxy, on a quest to discover Earths delicious foods, landed in Newington and stopped off for it’s first meal at .Jags.. . It would invariably head straight back to Planet z. Its mission a failure. Earth surely had no decent food, they would assume.XXX has been on a downward trajectory for some years now. We visited 2 years ago and sampled a few things that wern’t as bad. Since then however, the management in its infinite wisdom has seen fit to hack the menu back to a dull, predictable list, surely in a quest to see how quickly they can bring on bankruptcy. So now the menu and the food is bland, tasteless, boring, predictable, cheaply produced and badly managed.Need I go on?OK I will.We ordered a rocket salad. It was as dry as a Martian beach. We sent it back. The parmesan in the salad was cheap tasteless and nasty. When it returned it was no better. The pasta was dismal. The filling was unidentifiable and the sauce was totally devoid of all those wonderful herbs that make Italian food so delicious and popular. The parmesan they gave us to sprinkle on the top was the very cheapest you can get. The sweepings from the cheese factory floor with some filler added to make it go further. Tasteless, utterly tasteless! The pizza was at least edible. . But hardly up to the standards of the local takeaway cowboys. The ambiance of the restaurant was awful. Clearly the declining clientele has forced to management to cut the restaurant in two and rent it out.Unfortunately this has produced the effect of eating in someone’s garage....with the car still in it!The only hope for this restaurant is my rescue package, (see below). Fortunately there is a Woolworths supermarket 25 metres from the door with an excellent selection of Italian food in the deli and on the shelves.Rescue package1/ Sack the cook2/Send the kitchen hand over to Woolworths to list all the Italian food and turn it into a menu.3/ Buy a good microwave and heat the above food up4/ Get the manager to smile more5/Tell the aliens to come back all is forgiven.
