I visited the restaurant right when it opened on a Monday. The staff was still preparing for the day, which is understandable. I ordered a coffee and received a menu, but after a few minutes, I had to flag someone down to get cream, sugar, and a spoon for my coffee. I tried the hash and scrambled eggs, with the day's special being a taco beef hash, which I must say was quite good. However, the eggs were cut into small, bean-sized pieces, likely for quicker cooking. My food came out incredibly fast, and I finished and was back at my car in under 20 minutes. Wow, I can only say wow! I’m visiting from Charleston, SC, to see my wife’s family and decided to check out this fantastic place. The menu is extensive, offering something for every taste. The fried oysters and shrimp were outstanding, and that’s coming from someone who lives near the beach! The drinks are amazing too—we tried the mango strawberry margarita, and it definitely lived up to the hype, so we ended up ordering a pitcher. I previously posted a review where I rated Jake's 5 stars but mentioned the wait times. I want to update my thoughts and emphasize that Jake's offers the most consistently enjoyable dining experience I’ve ever encountered, all while maintaining a comforting, home-cooked taste that many other reliable places often lack. The staff is exceptional, and the quality of the food, along with the cozy atmosphere, is unparalleled in the area. The wait—if there is one—is always worth it, and you'll completely forget about it by the time you're done eating.
The breakfast sandwich was quite dry and didn't justify the price. The sausage was overcooked, and I had to pay an extra $3 for it. I came in with my toddler, and no one offered us a booster seat or high chair, so I had to find one myself. They brought the check right away and didn't offer coffee refills until I asked for them. I visited Jake's for the first time and couldn't be more pleased. The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is delicious, and the service was wonderful. The staff appeared genuinely happy to be there and seemed truly invested in providing a great experience, which is quite uncommon in New England, to be honest.
The staff at this restaurant were rather unfriendly and distant. Although the place had a lively atmosphere, I was disappointed by the cleanliness of our table and the overall upkeep of the restaurant. While I appreciated the food, I genuinely wish the rest of my experience had been of the same standard.
Few places can match the experience at Jake's. They serve the best breakfast, featuring exciting and inventive dishes. The customer service is consistently excellent. My only suggestion would be to improve the taste of the drip coffee—consider giving the new roasters from Springfield a try!
