Janani use to be a genuine little Indian gem for Dosa, bathuras and decent vegetarian thali. Simple but good. Now the quality has gone right down, the dosa despite a price increase has itself shrank to half the size! They no longer give free tamarind chutney with their samosas, you have to pay extra for it. I had the worse onion bahadji ever one evening, it was cooked in the morning and kept warm all day in a hot cabinet which completely dried the snack and made it unedible. It is a pitty if they do not realise that they will end up losing customers if they chose to sacrifice the quality. It is now under new management. 1. There are no onsite hand wash facilities for this restaurant. They gave hand sanitiser. 2. Most of the food served either needs to be eaten with hand and very flimsy napkin is provided. No fork and knife provided for no touch eating. 3. When asked for take away box for dosa, pizza box was given with no container for chutneys or sambar4. Requested artificial sweetener for masala tea and they said that they do not have any5. Food very bland and not typical South Indian taste6. Poor customer service and long waiting time eventhough there are not may people in the restaurant.7. Food not cheap either.

I thought I would give Janani another chance, but they sealed their faith. The food was bland, the portions very small for the price and the parathas were raw in the middle, they exchanged it but the meal was well below average. What a pity as I use to really enjoy Janani as a regular customer. I am now at a loss for good, genuine Indian food. The vegetarian thali was shameful portion wise and quality wise. They obviously did not take on board the constructive criticism. Eventually customers will run out. Highly not recommended.

I'm a born and bought up South Indian, so I can authoritatively comment on this and I've been here quite a few times.Here goes the review about the latest visit this morning.Average food, very expensive, unhygienic.Prices have gone up by thirty percent in the last year, quality of the food remain the same, hygiene has taken a nose dive. We ordered a Sambar-Idli set, but the sambar was overly salty and spicy. The uttappam was undercooked, spicy, and had a strange texture more reminiscent of scrambled eggs than uttappam. It also took a long time to be served. Additionally, the masala chai was missing the masala flavor. Overall, we were very disappointed and will not be returning.

Lunch for 2. One of the softest Chapati we had in a while. I don't think its made from ready made flour. The kurma curry was not sweet for once. Masala tea was alright. I might go there again just for the Chapatis.

On my bro's Birthday we went to Janani Bhavan and celebrated it there even though we didn't take the cake there. All the food we got was very tasty. they had amazing Dosa and Paratha with epic sides!!

Great food like in India, so much variety from Dosa to Batura. Dosa was the best they also did a great lamb curry!
