While at the bar, a couple sitting next to me received a plate of onion rings, and after I commented on how appealing they looked, they insisted that I try one. They were absolutely right—they were fantastic! The couple was in the midst of wedding planning, and when their parents arrived, it was clear they were regulars at Jar. They shared with me how much they loved the restaurant and had been returning for years, highlighting several of their favorite menu items which made me eager to return. I also noticed the chef, who I later learned is the owner, Suzanne Tracht, chatting with a patron at the bar before she made her rounds to check on diners in the dining room. This long established restaurant has never lost it 's pizzazz for good food and service. Sometimes forgotten while considering the newer places this is one to keep on your must go rotation list. Service was great but not overbearing; the good was just wonderful and chef made small requested changes perfectly. (I.e., the request for crispy french fries was accomplished perfectly something frequently just ignored). The pot roast was as good as ever, as was the pork chop. Candidly, the duck fried rice is vastly over rated but, otherwise, the meal was superb. It 's back on our list and in our rotation of good places to eat.
I had not been here in a while, and dinner on Mother's Day was fabulous. The room is wood clad and pleasant. The service and the food was fabulous. We had the squash blossom appetizer, steak, braised short rib, with asparagus and creamed corn sides. Finished the meal with banana cream pie for dessert. We were even greeted by the owner Suzanne Tracht as she was near the hostess when we arrived. Once you have been here, you realize why Jar has become a Los Angeles institution over the last 20+ years in business.
Jar has always been one of my favorite restaurants. I used to visit frequently, but I haven't been there in recent years. Last night, I returned and was pleasantly reminded of why I loved it so much before. The service was exceptional, and the food was top-notch. Always a delight , some of the best “ non typical and original “ steakhouse fare in LA . All of the staff are true gems , and the kitchen produces so much “ melt in your mouth “ fare it's always tough to decide because it's all excellent . ,Superb side dishes abound . A special place for a date , or to take really good friends . The price point is well worth it , and the cocktails and desserts are excellent as well . ??
We always anticipate our visits to Jar. The food is consistently delicious and delightful. We appreciate the specials that aren’t on the menu, which we always enjoy. Chris recommended the crab and shrimp cakes as an appetizer, and they were fantastic. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Chris is very professional and knowledgeable. We can’t wait for our next dining experience!
This place has excellent opitions for vegetarians and meat eaters, alike. My date and I shared the pot roast, chicken schnitzel, greens with fava beans, onion rings, and the crab devilled eggs to start with warm sourdough bread. I can't wait to return and enjoy another blue cheese olive martini which was prepared with gin, as I requested. The service was also exceptional.
I have eaten at this restaurant many times but last night was a disappointment. They have changed the flatware so it was like eating your entrée on an airplane tray. Which made the meal unappetizing. The schnitzel was dry and the salmon was oily. They can do better. Reserva una mesa ahora
I love Jar. I go to dinner at Jar to celebrate special occasions because it's feels special. The menu appeals to everyone in my group. The bartending is excellent. The service is attentive and very professional. Great atmosphere.
