This was our first visit to this restaurant, and it won't be our last. From start to finish, from the welcome by the chef, to his farewell, the experience was wonderful. We sat in the main room, close to the kitchen, and were able to watch the meals being painstakingly prepared. We chose the 'classic' menu at 35€ (for three courses) and each one was excellent - original, sophisticated, well prepared, delicately flavoured and beautifully presented. Vegetables were lacking, as always in restaurants of this type, but we always felt that we had eaten enough at each course. Service was attentive, even if the young trainee needed the occasional support of his more experienced colleague. The room was comfortable and warm (not always a given on a cool day early in the year), and the decor simple. When we visited the restaurant was full, another good sign that they are doing things right.
The decor was excellent - they have tried to make the dining experience very different.The welcome was very good - we were made to feel most welcome. The menu seemed to be very exciting but sadly, the chef was not in evidence for the whole evening and the courses were assembled by two youngsters who took for ever to arrange the food on the plates which resulted in cold food. The duck burger was very greasy (and I think microwaved) which was somewhat disappointing. I feel that this restaurant, although probably the best in the village, was somewhat pretentious, and I would not visit again.
We have visited this delightful restaurant many times when we were living in St Bauzille de Putois and have also stayed overnight. We cannot speak highly enough of the warm and professional welcome we receive. The pace of service and the variety of flavours - highlighting regional ingredients in season - are an absolute joy. Isabelle and Jerome are truly passionate about what they do and the care and attention is clear to see in the quality of the rooms and in the food served.
the starter a trilogy of lobster and crab, was really wonderful. sadly enough it was only downhill from there. i can not understand this trend for 'smoked' meat. it gives the meat a foul taste and since there were other guests that night that also complained about the 'smoked' meat, I know I'm not the only one who thinks this.
