My friends and I visited Jim Johnston's Steakhouse for our quarterly gathering and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was Wednesday Night Rib Platter Combo for $17.95. It was a fantastic deal, with a full rack of St. Louis style ribs, coleslaw, and fries. Even though I don't usually enjoy French fries, I must admit that these were delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was charming, with traditional dark wood paneling and a spacious bar with plenty of seating. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend giving it a try. Delicious!
We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was amazing - the cowboy steak, burger, and prime rib were all cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The cheesecake and apple pie were also delicious. The old, dark decor added to the charm of the place. What really stood out was the fantastic service - friendly and fast. I haven't been to this steakhouse in many years. They only serve prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays, but they ran out early on Saturday when I visited. I ended up getting a $45 rib eye steak, which turned out to be a fatty strip steak. The onion rings were frozen and overly fried, with raw breading inside the thicker part. I was served a cold ginger ale and apple juice without straws, and had to ask the bartender for them. The atmosphere hasn't changed in at least 30 years. The service varies depending on the server and their mood that day.
JJ's is truly top-notch! The service is exceptional and the ambiance has a vintage 70s knotty pine theme that feels authentic. Whether you love this style or not, being here is a laid-back and relaxing experience reminiscent of the TV show 'Cheers', where everyone knows your name. But what really matters is the food. Having traveled the world for years on the company's dime, I've been to some amazing steak houses. However, none have quite measured up to JJ's in my opinion. It's truly an incredible dining experience.

I absolutely adore the bartender at this restaurant. She is extremely professional and creates fantastic cocktails. The service was exceptional. The carrot cake was incredibly delicious, although my lamb was unfortunately burnt. Overall, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a meal with friends and family. This restaurant is certainly a landmark. While it could use some updating, the steaks were cooked perfectly. Our waitress, Antoinette, was fantastic. We had a great chat with her and learned that she has been working there for a long time. We will definitely be returning, as the prices were also very reasonable.
This restaurant/bar in Northwest Essex County is the best. It has been around for years and the food and service are top-notch.
All the food was very tasty, no one complained and you could have a conversation without loud music
