We went on a Monday afternoon at lunch time, only one other couple was there. Hmmm, should have been a sign as to what was to come. We went because we heard the pizza was good. Nope, not even close. The Scillian slice I ordered was raw, the dough was not cooked and both the Sicilian slice and regular slice had absolutely no flavor. When I voice my concerned about the undercooked slice, the manager stated” He “would taste it. Sorry, was I not somehow qualified to determine if pizza was raw and undercooked? He never came back with his findings, never apologized, never offered to take it off the bill I did not eat it and did ask it be removed from the bill and BTW, at no time was I anything but...
Until today, this restaurant was pretty reliable—nothing extraordinary, but decent enough. However, my experience today was disappointing and marked the worst pizza I've ever had. It was excessively greasy, almost swimming in oil, and so flimsy that I initially thought it was undercooked. I had requested my pizza to be well-done, but what I received was the complete opposite. Additionally, there was no warning about a surcharge for using a credit card in the drive-thru. When you're quoted one price by the waitress and then see a different amount on the receipt just moments later, it feels like a bit of a scam. My family has been going to Joes frequently for many years, but probably won’t return. We ordered delivery and after waiting over an hour we called to see the status. We were told it would be there any minute. Waited another 35 minutes and called again. Once again, we were told any minute. I finally asked to cancel our order. A manager got on the phone and begrudgingly voided our order after telling me he would have to call the driver to turn around. I understand wait times can sometimes be long but was really bummed that not one of the 3 people we spoke to attempted to apologize in any way.
My husband and I used to frequent this restaurant and really enjoyed the quick and casual dining experience. However, after we took our family there, half of us ended up with food poisoning. I contacted the restaurant to let them know, and the manager suggested that we might have gotten sick from something else we ate that weekend, despite the fact that our families were only with us at Joe's. The stromboli looked good, but once I took a bite, I found the cheese to be gummy in a way I had never experienced before, and there was hardly any flavorful steak. My boyfriend's quesadilla was similar. When a manager came by to check on us, she offered some flavored green teas, which I declined. She then suggested microwaving some iced tea for me at no charge. However, when we received the bill, there was a charge of over $2.50 for it. I would never return to this restaurant. The prices are quite high, too!
I stopped at lunch for TWO PLAIN slices the people were very nice, but I paid over $6 for two plain slices and gave them a tip that brought me up to over $9, did not even come with a drink, that is absurd I live at the jersey shore and not even the tourist areas on the boardwalk charge near that. The pizza was ok but definitely needed to be cooked longer also, that was my first time ever there and will be my last, you can get decent pizza anywhere and much cheaper than this place.
