John Sparr Tavern - Reservar una mesa

We made reservations for 2 for a 10 year anniversary. After checking in and almost being seated the owner refused us and turned us out to seat a larger walk in group. He also said he told my husband they don't make reservations for 2 but our name was in the book. He didn't even apologize and was very rude. We went to Taylor's Steakhouse in La Canada instead and enjoyed a wonderful meal in a higher class establishment. I'm giving this 2 stars because 1 star reviews are often filtered out.

We took friends out they recommended this place. Lovely old world feeling the waitstaff was warm inviting. Drinks were good, although we did not try any of their specialty drinks, the basics were fine. Steaks burgers were cooked perfectly (medium rare) when I let them know it was our friends birthday, they comped us cake, candle a song. Very nice evening!!

Super disappointed. Waited an hour and half and still never got our food. Had to have them pack our food to go. They offered a free dessert, which I did not receive. $295 and nothing to eat. Not to mention they packed our food to go with zero utensils. I was starving, spent $295 and just had to stay super hungry!

Well... so far we really love Adam Delaney(bartender). Adam made us the best drink created just for ME! made with St. German Elderflower liqueur. They call it (trouble) 'Jade 's Elderflower '! Food review is coming soon...

The food was excellent! Service was great. We were out on the little patio on a beautiful day and enjoyed drinking Zombies of which they do 3 different versions. I would definitely go back next time we are in the area.

Such a nice neighborhood place. Always love the places in Montrose. Very friendly and great food. Definitely will be going back. This was the grand opening and was very grand!!

First time visiting this spot. The food was amazing but the service was beyond. The men that work here are just so kind and thoughtful. This will be our new date night spot.

We went for corned beef and cabbage, carrots and potatoes for St. Patrick's day. It was delicious. Best corned beef ever!
