Jot Mahal is a true treasure in the East Bay dining scene. Elevated above the street, the inviting wooden decor and lovely view create a homely atmosphere. The food is so satisfying that you'll wish you could easily limit yourself to just one plate, but the rich flavors are too irresistible—to the point where we indulge every time we visit. Having grown up near the renowned curry mile in England, I confidently say this is the best Indian cuisine in Berkeley. The service is friendly, and the gentle music enhances the experience. I had the pleasure of dining at Jot Mahal Indian Cuisine, first for their buffet and then again for a birthday dinner. The chef and owner, affectionately known as “Gopi,” is a truly extraordinary person and an excellent cook! He made me feel very welcome, creating a warm, home-like atmosphere that is hard to find these days. I also appreciate that they still offer a lunch buffet, which is quite uncommon.
