This is a 2-3 Michelin Star Level Experience Food, exactly what I was looking for a birthday dinner. Technically a 1-star for now because chef Jonathon Yao and his chefs are gunning for their second star and it shows in their new menu. To point out Chef Yao is actually there, running the kitchen, prepping/and helping staff, unlike many founder-less Michelin star restaurants we 've been to. Biggest Letdown. A lot of things wrong. Not much right. Overall a great lack of attention to detail. I 'll write in list to save time. A few mistakes can be overlooked but there was a pattern of failures that led to this review. Also this was a $350 per person meal so standards are higher. Service (Understaffed and many new workers): 1. Floor not flat so both chair and tables wobbled alot. Asked to move tables and were told there were no tables for our party of 2 elsewhere. However, a table for 4 sat empty for the remainder of the night. 2. Had to ask for wifi password twice (over 5 mins between) 3. Servers said very basic descriptions when serving and were not very knowledgable about dishes...
We were completely blown away by the entire experience. We left a more detailed review on Google, where we explained why this restaurant deserves a 2-3 star Michelin rating. You don’t have to be Asian to fully enjoy and appreciate the incredible flavors and the impressive techniques that showcase meticulous attention to detail. The whole experience, including the service and the chefs, made for a truly memorable evening. The head chef is actively involved, cooking and assisting with service, and is clearly aiming for a 2 star Michelin rating—what an impressive sight! Lived up to the hype. What an incredible meal and hospitality! Each dish was a unique and affective expression of a consistent vision, and the som helped us navigate the admittedly overwhelming and impressive wine list to find the perfect bottle that complimented our preferences and the flavor profiles of the menu. This restaurant is deserving of all the recent accolades and I would recommend going out of your way to experience it for yourself.

This is my third time dining at Kato. I loved chefs creative cuisine showcasing intricate n complex dishes... and beautiful presentations! However, last night I thought some of the dishes had sauces that were too heavy n salty for the proteins served. I will ask for less salt on my next visit. We definitely enjoyed the service especially by Ken ? , the sommelier. Also the wine director ? was very pleasant and welcoming.
I took my husband and our dear friend for a belated father's day dinner. The restaurant called ahead of time to check on any allergies as well as if the dinner was for any special occasions. When we arrived, there was a hand-written card for a belated happy father's day, and it was a very warm elegant gesture. The food and service were both excellent and we had a lovely evening together!
The food was excellent and the overall experience was wonderful. My favorite dish was the you tiao topped with uni, Iberico ham, and caviar. I would highly recommend this place for celebrations or if you're simply looking for a lovely evening out.
Kato certainly has ambition, but is a mixed bag. The food and service are very good, but they charge as much as restaurants with 2 more stars. Try it if you have the ends, just don't expect to get value for what you're spending.

A sublime experience, with each dish exquisitely crafted with distinctive flavors that blend harmoniously to evoke nostalgic memories for days. I'm glad I ordered the “beef noodle soup” wagyu supplement.
The food here is incredible, with a variety of delicious and well-crafted dishes! Just a note for those with dietary restrictions: I have a shrimp allergy.
