For people who like delicious barbecue dosen't matter where you are you should stop at Ken-Tex Barbecue. They are located on Eden Rd Shelbyville KY. Their is plenty of seating inside with tables outside. Ken-Tex Barbecue has a reasonably priced menu and there is even a all you can eat offering with many choices. We had the brisket sandwich which was the most tender and flavourful we have ever had. Their fries were good and coleslaw also. My favorite side is the Ken-Tex Barbecue's Longhorn stew a delicious mixture of chunks of brisket pinto beans with onions and spices. Ken-Tex Barbecue has been in business for 32 yes and for good reason their Barbecue is the best in Shelbyville!
Pulled in here for some dinner and just knew everything was gonna be alright when I smelled the parking lot. Sweet smoke smells rolled out of the place as I was walking up. Friendly folks and yes, I let them pick my dinner. It was the right thing to do. The young man sliced up some brisket for me while the young lady got the sides and handled the register. Brisket was tender with great flavor and a good mix of lean and fat. Nice ambiance fitting for a BBQ joint and a big screen TV to boot. Thanks for a great dinner!
The brisket was moist and tender and delicious, and the chopped (pulled) pork was good. The longhorn stew, an unusual side in this part of the country, was very good. The sauce was complex and well-made. The staff was friendly and professional, considering I came in around closing time, and I tipped them. I would definitely venture back. Overall, a solid deal for the money. My only small suggestion would be to install a sneeze guard at the counter area if you’re going to slice brisket near where customers order.
Best food on our trip to Kentucky. The food was amazing and the service was top-notch. The staff was very knowledgably and helpful. I recommend getting their stew as one of the sides. If you're in the area and are done with your local tour, I recommend taking a trip to this place before you leave town.
