I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip and found it to be quite good overall. The room (double) was a decent size and had a Sony TV with a built-in DVD player. The standout feature of this hotel is the food, which is much better than other hotels I have stayed at. In the small town of Cruden Bay, there may not be many other dining options available, but that is not a problem as the food at this hotel is excellent. On Sunday, the 14th, we went to this restaurant for lunch. The service was okay, but the food was disappointing. I ordered the steak pie, which was cold in the middle. After sending it back and receiving it reheated, it came back burnt. The two portions of fish we ordered were also disappointing, with tasteless fish and burnt batter. It was a disappointing experience overall, and we left quickly. The restaurant was empty, which we now understand why. If you ever visit Cruden Bay, I would not recommend dining at this place.
The service from the waitresses was lovely, but the food was disappointing. Our starter took 35 minutes to arrive and the batter on the fish platter had no seasoning. We also had to wait another 30 minutes for our steaks, which were both cooked well done instead of medium and had no seasoning. The waitress offered to have the steaks replaced, but we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes. Overall, we were disappointed with the food.
After walking for a couple of hours, we stopped for a lunchtime drink at this typical period bar. While it may be a little dowdy, brighter lighting would definitely enhance the atmosphere. The covid system in place was excellent and the place was very clean. The ale was well kept and the staff were pleasant. It seems to be a popular spot among locals.

jan called for hot drinks. they do not toasties etc. x tee and hot chocolate drink. I have a short brot that was like sawdust and x chips. they were cooked and dressed again and disgusting. only half a bowl to eat. paid bill and informed waitress of my great disappointment. certainly will not recommend this place.
Although we did not stay at this establishment, we did enjoy two meals at the restaurant. Our reservation was for a Friday night and the meal was exceptional. In fact, we were so impressed that we decided to return for a second night. Special thanks to the chef for the delicious food!

really good eating, pub scrub only the best, easy, melt in mouth broken squid, delicious haggis bonbons. bier was good too. only the job after a breezy beach walk.

The food and service at this restaurant was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. I also loved the cozy room that was converted from a staircase.
Gorgeous beer garden located by the river. Ideal spot for enjoying a refreshing drink on a warm summer evening.
