I have yet to try another hibachi in Winston-Salem that tops this one for me. Kimono is a staple! There are several locations around, including Clemmons, Welcome, and Kernersville, but I'm most familiar with this location. 9 times out of 10, I usually opt for takeout, because hibachi is just one of those meals that is easy to grab and go. If you're going that route, this location does a high volume of takeout, so they've got it down. They're always pleasant on the phone, and I've never had my order be incorrect. It's been years since I've been to this Kimono restaurant, but I was happy to come back because it was always great in the past. This time, we came for a birthday lunch and the table included around 10 people. The inside is less cozy than some smaller places, but it's clean and laid out pretty well. No issues there. Tucked away off the main road at the entrance to a shopping center, it does not seem to inviting until you walk in. A very warm environment with Japanese artwork and artifacts make you feel welcome. There is a sushi bar and amble table and booth seating. There are also a few tables set outside if the weather cooperates. Staff is friendly and quick to serve you. Menu has some good appetizers, salads and soups. Their main items are the many choices of sushi. There is also hibachi teriyaki with your choice of protein, mixed veggies and different sauces. This Kimono location, just down the hill from Harris Teeter, has a small sushi bar as well as a reasonable amount of table and booth seating. I don't think I've ever actually tried their sushi offerings though. Instead, I've gotten several hibachi dishes here for lunch down through the years (mostly because this was one of the few places my former coworker was willing to eat). And while there's nothing that ever knocked my socks off about the food, it's good. Consistent. Dependable. This has been one of my favorite go-to Japanese restaurants in Winston. The food is always great, the staff are always attentive, and the place feels clean and open. I am a sushi lover, so I a usually get sushi when I go. Today I got the volcano roll and the Juliet roll off the special roll menu. As always, it was delicious and great quality! I have enjoyed the rice dishes, soups, and salads as well. Always amazing! The place itself is tucked between a vape shop and a shoe store, but still manages to not feel like a strip mall joint. The food here was terrible to say the least. We got the kimonos special excited to try something new. I asked for my chicken cooked well done and they came back with old rice,old chicken that was refried in oil and hard as a rock, and just overall no flavor tasting food. The service was good but it's definitely not worth the money and I advise anyone to go anywhere else if you're craving Japanese as I was.

The restaurant was spotless, and the sushi was excellent. The server was friendly and smiled, but they weren't very attentive, especially since we were one of only two tables there at 2 PM on a Thursday. At least the busboy took care of processing our card so we could return to work. The sushi portions were generous, and the flavor was fantastic.

Have ordered from here often. They give you a ton of rice and a modest amount of protein. Ordered the filet tonight and there is no way that is filet mignon. Maybe strip steak but way too tough to be filet. Have ordered the steak in the past and it is most likely top sirloin. Very disappointing.

This restaurant is immaculate! Everything is very clean, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the food was fantastic. The sushi roll combo was impressive, and the service was excellent. My server was extremely polite, and the food arrived quickly. I can't recommend this place highly enough!
