I am really sad to say that this was one of the worst dinner experiences I had. I had high expectations because I've heard of Kincaid for years and it was extremely disappointing. 1, there were openings on every 15 min brand that should have been a red flag for a Saturday evening in downtown St Paul; at 630 for 2 people, no problem. 2, the slowest service I've ever had. 3, I specifically asked if they had the best rib when we were greeted first, what they did, but then 2 times later something was adjusted – first with the chef then a second adjustment from the manager. We both wanted a 16-oz primary rib, and there were miscommunications for size / cut availability, so they gave us (2) 12 oz...
The food was ok, but nothing exciting and didn't meet the level of expectations for a restaurant that positions itself as an upscale seafood and steak restaurant. The real disappointment though was the service. All of the staff was pleasant to interact with, but it took over 30 minutes to get our drinks after we first ordered. Ran out of water and had to request refills. Soup was delivered AFTER the entrée and the bread came even after the soup. Had to request a soup spoon. Had to request dirty dishes taken away between courses (they were starting to just pile up). Either very untrained staff or very overwhelmed.
The food and ambiance at Kincaid’s is always exceptional. The challenge was the service. The bar and kitchen must have been overwhemed because there we significant delays in getting orders to the table. This is unusual as we do come fairly regularly but each time the service is slower and slower. The serving staff also are constantly in the go and also seem overwhelmed even though it really wasn’t that busy for a Friday evening. Disappointing but hope it’s just a blip in the road and the service will improve.
Food and ambiance were great. They were clearly under staffed. Waitress was kind, but very few visits from her. I was out of my soda for more than 15min 2 times. I ordered a coffee that never came with my desert and it was on my tab. Waitress was embarrassed when I pointed it that out. In this day and age, everyone knows good help is hard to find, but sadly I guess the standard has been lowered for a $200+ dinner at Kincaid's.

The cats need to figure out how to make "Dressing on the side" an option. Having received a sopping mess of drowned foliage the last time I ordered a salad here and submitting feedback, I was hoping Id find this issue addressed. Nope. Dont order a delivery/to-go salad unless you like your salads spoiled prior to arrival.
Steak was okay but extremely small for such a high price. Received 3 stems of asparagus with stems too tough too eat and 1/3 cup of mashed potatoes that appeared to have been under a hot light for an hour of more yeech. Maytag blue cheese salad had far too much romaine for the amount of cheese and dressing.
We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate on a Monday night. The service and food were fantastic. Thank you Kincaid's for a lovely evening!
I have eaten here 25-30 times, lunch and dinner Outstanding food, the fresh fish is always amazing.
