Kitaro Surf Turf Sushi

They offer a wide variety of sushi and seafood, along with some premium steaks. I ordered the 16-ounce New York strip, and it was cooked to perfection. With a steak cut this thick, I always worry about whether it will be cooked right, but it was exactly the medium I requested, with a fantastic sear. The red-skinned mashed potatoes were slightly bland, but I didn’t think to ask for salt and pepper, which I’m sure would have improved them. The grilled vegetables on the side were great—perfectly cooked and not greasy at all. My pre-dinner salad drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette was light and a great start to the meal. Stopped in on a whim while waiting for someone at the hospital. So glad I did! Interior was upbeat and reminded me of a place in the city. Everyone was super friendly. A little intimidated with the menu as it's huge!!!! Tons of sushi and random sushi related meals. I chose the soft shell crab roll, 5 pieces for $12, and it was well worth it. Also had the seafood ramen. Lots of shrimp, scallops and fish cake slices. Broth was just enough fish flavor without making it too fishy. I'd give it a 9 out of 10! Definitely coming back. I think it would be good for a date night or a couples night!

We’ve visited this restaurant multiple times, and the food and service have consistently been excellent. However, during our recent pick-up order yesterday, we experienced several issues. Our rainbow roll had plastic inside, and my miso ramen was missing its toppings, including the pork belly. I called the restaurant, and they credited me for the rainbow roll, but I believe these kinds of mishaps shouldn’t occur at a restaurant. We drove all the way there and back, only to be left completely disappointed.

This is my second time ordering from here, and I was disappointed once again. The portion sizes are small and the prices are high. The Kitaro Monster Roll, which includes shrimp tempura, snow crab, and avocado, had only one piece of shrimp at the end of the roll. To be honest, it’s not any better than what you’d find at Jewel. I absolutely enjoyed the decor, food, and service! The selection of dishes was fantastic, and the soft shell crab spring rolls were my favorite. I didn't get to try the sushi this time, so I will definitely make sure to sample it on our next visit.

The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the ambiance was incredible. I will definitely be returning! Next time, I plan to try the maki, as it looked fantastic from what I saw on other people's plates.
