In the meantime, the entrance fee in the gastronomy has become so complicated that you can search locals with pick-up and delivery service. A year ago it worked. In my research I came to the "Kitchen" in my home town of Böblingen. Although it was apparently opened in the last quarter of 2019, its existence has so far been completely overstated. Despite absolutely central location. Located between kilometers and railway station on the edge of the Böblinger airfield – with the picturesque address “Charles-Lindbergh-Str.” – it is hidden in the wind shadow of some newly created, faceless office buildings. Parking is a problem here, but the train station and bus station are just steps away. The extensive homepage promises a biocertified restaurant with an impressive hygiene concept. I do not find an online form for ordering food, but the friendly cooperative lady on the phone promises me on the eve that I can simply order locally and in 10 minutes the food is ready to pick up. This works – and I can even wait for dinner in the restaurant as there are no other guests before 12. On the menu you will find a variety of burgers, bowls and salad variations – from classic to vegan/vegetarian, spies and dishes, desserts and fruit juices, brauss specialities, house wines with sound names “Helene the Luminous” and cocktails. Because I'm not necessarily the Burger fan, the lunch card is available. I order 1x Argentinian beef steak with herbal butter, wild potatoes and sour cream for incredible 11,90 euros, 1x grilled zander fillet with grilled vegetables and rosemary spices 12,90 euros, with an additional salad 3,50 euros. While it tastes and crumbles in the kitchen, I use the opportunity to let the ambience work on me. Could be just like a hotel lobby in Antalya as a core place in Arkansas: very much dark solid wood, soft padded retro armchair and massive, inviting leather sofas, with crystal chandeliers and reading lamps. Between the shelves of the library, whose structure I only take as a pure decoration. In an unobserved moment I pack some volumes and see amazed: all bibliophilic editions from the last century, all real. Nevertheless, the whole interior looks kind of like a film scene and a bit strange. The undercooled business environment should offer a cozy counterpart. By the way, the very nice and uncomplicated service woman has not promised too much: In less than a quarter of an hour I can take the freshly prepared food. Home when unpacking great joy! The Argentine beef steak is of best quality and unpaid by enthusiasm I forget to take a photo. Although medium is ordered, it is relatively but still surprisingly delicate and aromatic. With herbal butter and sour cream in an extra plastic dish you have not saved. There is also a huge part of the wild potatoes. The pike fillet is fried on the skin, the Mediterranean grilled vegetables and the rosemary spices swim in the fat, but should be quiet less... . All in all we were very excited about the friendly service, the fast preparation and the quality of the food. In the coming weeks we will study lunch carefully. Perhaps this winter the “Kitchen” will also relive its delivery service? Otherwise it is worth eating on site. The Medicum Medical Center and Mercaden Shopping Temple are just a few steps away – and those who want to turn a round after the meal have an opportunity at the nearby Langen Lake.
