Came here on a Saturday night after trying a whole bunch of other places, and found this place had seating. It turned out that it was one of the breweries that we wanted to visit, so that turned out well. The underground dining room has the acoustics that make too many people in the room stop any conversation due to the loud noise. However, we managed to have one until two large groups came in and started drinking and chatting. The server was prompt and courteous, the food came quickly, and hot. The Radler was a neither beer or lemonade taste, and somewhat disappointing. The Pilsner was bitter in my opinion, but good in the opinion of the two that ordered them. This biergarten....brewery.......restaurant is situated directly across the street from the Altstadt Hotel Mollitor. There is outside seating on the street. After about 5:00 pm, there is an open area just above the Regnitz River. One evening we were sitting at a table right against the wall above the water when a local couple strolled up to the table let us know we were sitting at "their" table. We asked them to join us and had an enjoyable evening talking to them and learning about their city. This is a great place to sit, sip one of their delicious biers. The beer in this place is awesome. This is the oldest Brewery in Bamberg and the taste is apparent in the beer. The homemade Bamberger Gold is definitely one of the smoothest beers one can ever hope to drink straight out of the tap. The food at this place is very typical Franconian cuisine. I personally loved the Schaufele. Typical German service though. The place will be packed and they only have 2 waiters for the entire establishment.
Went in after walking in the cold visiting Bamberger Dom. The liver soup was served piping hot, so soothing after being outside in the -5 degrees , taking in the sights of Bamberg. The fish dish comes with much potato salad and a plate of fresh salad. Enjoy the combination. After that we had pancakes with berries for dessert.

I was here with the family from my husband. And unfortunately we have a very bad experience. First the waiter was very rude. Most of us needed to change our order because they did not have what we wanted. Not even coffee. For the location and the size of the place you could not imagine that you can not get a cup of coffee.
After sampling beer in every brewery in Bamberg my husband concludes that the schwarz bier at the Klosterbrau is the best! The staff are friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I chose Domina red wine and this too was lovely.. can't recommend this place highly enough!
I had lunch here on a weekday in February. The room was almost empty, and the server was bored and "reserved" (to put it politely). The Braun Beer I ordered was truly outstanding, the Schweinesbraten a bit below average for a German Gasthaus.
Very cool old building, friendly service and great beer. Try their Schwarz bier. It is easily the best I have ever had in that style. Tastes like a perfectly poured Guinness but better! Nice creamy head with a beautiful malt body.

The beer tastes, but prices are quite high compared to other brewery restaurants. The service deserves a maximum of half a point!
I went there for lunch and had a very tasty house salad and a local beer that was really good. Quiet location.
