Kona Grill - Minnetonka

Kona used to be our place to get sushi but since 2020 the quality of food had decreased, the price had gone up, the choices had gone from plenty to choose from to we rather not go there. Tonight’s dinner, let’s me say it this way. Service isn’t the way it used to be when servers were a knowledgeable about their items, prices are ridiculous, communication between server to guests are horrible and lastly, this place is not far from AppleBees w that table check out machine!! And food time was horrible!! Food were warm and sushi’s were sitting for awhile(saw it sitting where they pick up sushi and can tell by how the rice part of sushi). The music was very loud and the hostess tried to seat our party of 6 at a two person couch and two chairs…no idea what that was about and she looked confused when I told her we had six people and that spot wouldn’t work for us plus it didn’t have a proper dining table (and the floor was super sticky. then she sat us at the first table she saw that was next to the bathrooms and under a speaker even though we had a reservation… But our server was very nice and food and drinks came out promptly and was very tasty.

Great food and always consistent! Though Kona’s prices are steep, the happy hour is a great deal. Love the BBQ chicken flat bread, the crab roll, the avocado egg rolls. The sliders were good, a little off from normal. The kids meal was really nice for our granddaughter chicken nicely cooked and tender. Great bento box. The carrot cake is awesome inconsistent on portion size compared to last time we ordered it. Overall, great food. The service was outstanding, the hostess and server.

Our experience at Kona was just ok. Our waiter was not very attentive, he would disappear for long periods of time and could be seen standing at the front desk chatting. The food was expensive and overpriced for what we got. I ordered the lobster and pumpkin ravioli. It was tasty but there was 1 small piece of lobster. The food and service were good, but what you get for the price is getting a bit ridiculous. Portions keep getting smaller. It’s nice to sit on the patio, except that the view is a mall parking lot.

Service was the worst. I tipped 16 bucks on a 220 bill. That was 15 too much. Clueless, slow and zero people/service skills. Don 't order the special ! Place was a ghost town and now I know why.

Out of many items on the menu. Dishes were missing components. Potstickers as app was inedible. Had been to one in Florida and had a good experience. Will not return.
