We've visited Boppard several times and usually frequent one of the open air cafes, but last time service was slow and we were bothered by flies and wasps. So this time we headed for an indoor table and were not disappointed. This cafe is comfortable...and has helpful staff. I even managed to order in German. My husband had a cream fest with hot chocolate and a cream horn, and I enjoyed a good cup of coffee. We could see the comings and goings out on the square but enjoyed being inside on a not so sunny day. The loos were pristine, always a bonus!
J and I found this place while visiting the Christmas markets last year. Then travels took us there again in February. You won't be disappointed with a visit here. Coffee, Ox tail soup, and cakes were just as tasty as we remembered. The cozy atmosphere...coupled with huge windows for viewing the Markt Platz, central location, and great service made these memorable visits for us. A nice place to relax and still take-in the passing scenery. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did (both times).
Cake is just great. A piece of cake, a tea and a beer was EUR 8.6. Two pieces to go was cheaper at 5 euros, but sitting in the Catbird seat, like Boparders passing by, it was worth it. These cakes are the upper end and not the kind of grandma made. I think the name of this place is Cafe AM market. It stands on the building and on some T-shirts that wore children.
The bakery also has a beautiful outdoor seat overlooking the market square and the Saint Severus church. A beautiful place to sit down, have a 'coffee with cake' (coffee with cake) and relax for a while. If you prefer stronger coffee, you should order 'coffee cream' or 'Espresso'. Prices are average. Value for money is good. Service is friendly.
