Krungthep Tea Time

I've eaten here many times in the 10 years or so ? that they've been here. I'm surprised to see I've never reviewed them before. Their food, teas and brick toast desserts are excellent and consistently made. Their bread is perfectly toasted pressed. Their menu hasn't changed much in that time, so I've tried all of their sandwiches and drank at least a third of their teas, maybe half. Brick toast in general is unique if you ask me. Their tea is high quality and served in large mugs, which is ideal. I'm a tea drinker, not a coffee drinker, and they serve the best. It's also a bit pricey if you ask me at $5 a cup. But I absolutely love that they serve hot tea that's immediately drinkable, which shows they are conscious of the temperature of the water, unlike corporate chains that just blast it with a boiling hot water valve, cover it and give it to you. If you research looseleaf tea, you'll discover that different types of teas from around the world often have different recommended temperatures to get the most flavor from the leaves without burning them or making it more bitter, and most absolutely do not have to steep in near boiling water. One thing I'm not a fan of is how small and quiet the place is. They only have six or seven tables which fill up quickly at peak times and then it's a long wait if you want to. I don't do take out so I've walked in and out a handful of times over the years, although admittedly this was worse pre-COVID; these days either they are less busy or more people take out. It's also pretty quiet with young hip clientele, which makes sense as it's a cafe. That's good for conversations and peace, but you can overhear a lot and feel very close to the couple sitting right next to you talking about something you're trying your best to ignore lol. Overall for me, it's a great cafe with a sometimes awkward atmosphere. Bathrooms are clean, but could be livened up. Sometimes, though rare, tables and chairs feel a bit sticky from desserts. If they are coming up on a 10 year anniversary or something, I recommend they change some things up, maybe new dishes, snappy jazz music, some plants and color, some baffles, etc. Or if business is already perfect, then ignore lol.

If you’re a foodie, or love trying new food experiences or love finding those amazing hidden gems, well this is one of those. Best way to describe it is : WOW , and YUMMMM . 1\st, the ambiance here is so chill and calming 2nd, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming 3rd . THE MENU !!! it all looks amazing It’s affordable, great portions Now, their drink options are something to rave about and very unique Matcha Milk Tea, and tired 2 others Pesto Chicken Larb sandwich Their teas taste so unique The sauce used in their sandwiches adda perfection. Dessert : OMGEEEE The Witch If you haven’t been, put this on your list

Set expectations accordingly. If you expect Thai food with a creative spin, you’ll be disappointed. The food is American through and through, with copious amounts of fat and sugar. The Thai influences are but a whisper. I get a mild nausea after eating overly greasy and sweet foods; this was the case. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch
