Visited as a couple for a romantic dinner after reading excellent reviews. My wife loves fine food, especially sea food. Me too, but I am also keen on value for money. We liked the place the moment we entered. It is quite small with maybe 15 tables. It was very full at 8pm on a Friday night and we were lucky to get a table. It was warm and atmospheric. More traditional than young and trendy. Definitely a Mediterranean feel re-enforced by the personal warm welcome by the owner and his wife. We were offered the menu but didn’t read it. Based on previous reviews we asked for the chef’s recommended 4 course degustation menu, which the owner described with obvious enthusiasm. The food, from the busy, well-organised open kitchen was excellent. I am not qualified to judge whether it deserves any Michelin stars, but it was certainly that type: food prepared with an obvious passion, combining excellent fresh ingredients, wonderful presentation and some unusual, almost experimental, flavours and combinations.First course was a seafood anti-pasti with sesame-tuna, scallop, octopus, superb prosciutto, etc. Next was some kind of truffle filled ravioli which was truly mouth-watering, then some superbly fresh tuna (which was so unbelievably good it made that in the first course seem a little second rate). Fourth was an excellent scorpion fish fillet (again fresh from Croatia that day) and finally a dessert on the house. Overall a truly wonderful culinary experience. Although a degustation menu, each portion was of quite a decent size. We were certainly not left feeling hungry. All was washed down with the owner’s recommended Croatian white wine. Very light, crisp and dry. Very subtle, a perfect accompaniment to the food as it didn’t overpower it.Throughout the meal there was a warm, lively ambience from chatting guests, but never too load to stop us talking. A bonus was some live music which very much added to the Croatian taverna atmosphere. We usually dislike live music in restaurants as it often too loud and soulless. But this worked perfectly as appropriate, lively, atmospheric background music. In terms of value, the food was exceptional. The 4/5 course degustation menu was only EUR 42 per head. An absolute bargain for that quality of food, service and atmosphere. If I had one tiny gripe it was the wine, which although ideal for such a meal was quite pricy at EUR 32 per bottle given that it was so very light.Overall an excellent experience I would highly recommend.

We booked Kulinarium for a fancy last night in Vienna. I'm far more at home in a beer-y bar or a mid range diner, so this restaurant was always for my wife and not for me!The service was excellent and the food of a very high standard. They'd benefit enormously from having an English menu, as other restaurants in Vienna do. Now in making that suggestion, I may sound like an intolerable chav. But the reality was, despite the best efforts of the staff to offer explanation, when the food arrived it wasn't quite what we were expecting. And I'd have enjoyed the meal a lot more if I'd been able to make an informed choice. Anyway, back to the meal. We had a three course selection from the degustation menu for €35 each. We also had a glass of prosecco each. A bottle would have cost around €35. It's around the price you'd expect to pay for a restaurant like this.An enjoyable meal - but not the best we had in Vienna.

Been there on one night alone, very early (just opening time). I got a superb totani soup as a starter (nothing like a fish soup, more a totani goulash with roasted bread slices and all, and a fish filet that was simply perfect. I was presented with a tasty amouse-bouche on the house, and finished with a grappa, also from the house. Service friendly and nice, with some little (very little) glitches probably due to my being the first customer in the night. The restaurant got packed in a very short time, so you better book in advance. On my exit from the premises, I noticed the numerous staff in the kitchen, which explained the promptness and timing of my dishes.I will definitely come back my next trip to Vienna.

Went here as part of restaurant week. The set menu consisted of a wonderful antipasto plate along with bread and a special extra virgin oil. Followed by sauteed branzino and red mullet fillets complemented with a light citrus sauce and vegetables. They were a testament to preparing good products without complicating the dishes. We also received a sliver of lemon curd tart which was equally tasty. The atmosphere is welcoming -- classy with a view into the kitchen if you wish. Service was prompt and professional. The regular menu is mainly fish based given that the owner and chef are Dalmatian. It was delightful and although it is off the main track in Vienna, it is worth a return visit.
