Kurofune - Reserva de mesa

This is a small traditionally decorated restaurant. Between the atmosphere and the photos online you are given the impression it's going to be a premium dining experience on par with some of the better local no nonsense Japanese spots especially given the prices. It is not. The simplest and hallmark of any Japanese place , the California rolls, had overcooked mushy rice that was pressed so tightly it was dense and chewy. A harbinger of what was to follow. Gyoza was over cooked being nearly blackened on one side and falling apart on the other , the filling dry and tasting off. An order of fried rice had tiny overcooked shrunken shrimp with consistency frozen precooked shrimp. The only flavor...

Got a sushi place for you in in Commack, Kurofune.... totally amazing... appetizers #1 Korean Bulgogi- thinly sliced rib-eye marinated in signature Korean sauce, served on sizzling hot skillet...seriously delicious. App #2 Ika Maru- grilled whole squid with sweet soy sauce...frickin awesome...main round- Fireman Roll- spicy crunch tuna, jalapeno inside with tuna carpaccio on top w/ wasabi mayo. Vinny Roll- shrimp tempura inside w/ tuna, salmon, yellowtail eel on top. Sushi pieces- 4 toro, 4 fresh salmon 4 tamago.... first time here and cant wait to return...food is amazing and staff is the best... #meecheatsny #kurofunenewyork #sushi

I was surprised by the variety of sushi and sashimi in this restaurant. Salmon, tuna, octopus, squid, quail egg, yellow tail, you name it. They taste really delicious and look extremely beautiful. We ordered high grade sashimi and chirashi. The server is very polite and nice. We sat outdoor and feel really free and cozy in a Sunday evening with all the lights on. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to my local friends. One reminder: The portion is big here have a light lunch and come here for dinner :

One of the best sushi bar experience! Sunomono and uni sashimi with hot sake were the perfect way to begin your customized omakase. The sauce of sunomono was perfect and everything was so fresh and tasty. And the hot sake was delightfully smooth.
