La Alternativa Taurina

My twin brother Stephen and I were wandering around Arroyo De La Miel when we decided to drop into Centro Comercial San Jaun ,a great hall that's home to several great taverns ,one of my favourites in here is La Alternativa . A great looking tavern ,interior is superb ,a cool,cute looking serving bar ,great tiled features ,fantastic photos of bullfighting adorn the walls ,great decor and furnishings and lots of seating options ,it's just a great place to unwind in. We were here on a Thursday afternoon ,we grabbed a table were we ordered and were served beers from Cruzcampo Brewery ,served chilled and accompanied with a bowl of crisps which were delicious and much appreciated ,we kicked back ,chilled out and took in the great vibe in this busy and popular tavern. A big fan of this famous beer from the Seville region of Spain ,a golden ,light and hoppy beer bursting with taste and just do easy to drink especially when it's served freezing cold as in this tavern. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and a so every other visit to here we had a great time. La Alternativa is easy to locate along Avenida De La Constitucion and found in Centro Comercial San Jaun. Opening hours are; Monday,closed. Tuesday to Saturday,11am till midnight. Sunday,closed. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

La Alternativa on Av.de la Constitucíon is a fantastic Spanish restaurant and bar thats in a superb old Mercado and is as Spanish as it gets.This superb restaurant and bar is amazing with a traditional Spanish interior with many features relating to Bull fighting. I know this isn't to everyone's taste but its a part of Spanish life and culture and it's not to my liking.When we visited here we had a few bottles of Cruscampo brewery beers a superb local Spanish beer which were iced cold and really well priced. This is as traditional as it gets and is worth visiting as is this brilliant Mercedo that this restaurant and bar is housed in and is very easy to locate from Arroyo de la Miel train station its a short walk.(This is my 1st review of La Alternativa). We were actually trying to get into Casa Emilia and ended up at La Alternativa by mistake. It really had an authentic vibe: a leg of jamon on a table, decorated with bull fighter capes, bull's heads, photos of matadors and colorful paper lanterns on the ceiling. The tables were painted in garish colours and patterns. All of this only added to the charm of the place. We had no idea what to expect. Our dishes weren't fancy but they were hearty and yummy. We had ensalada Russia, artichokes and ham and the caramelised pig cheeks which were melt in your mouth delicious. Prices were great value. We'll definitely return deliberately next time we're in Benalmedena. Oh and the waitress was lovely.

What a wonderful experience. The food was excellent particularly the beef cheeks and you could not ask for better service.

Lovely little place. Staff are very good. Quick service. Very typical Spanish dishes. Fantastic atmosphere in the evening
