La Boucherie - Reservar una mesa

I had eaten here before, about a year ago when on holiday in the same area, and found it. ok. But last night we decided to go again and found the service to be lacking. A young waiter served us first and was very friendly and tolerant with our poor knowledge of French. We ordered and two of the five of us had starter. My dad was still eating his when another waitress, possibly head waitress, arrived with our main course. They stood over my dad as he hurriedly scooped a last forkful of his starter into his mouth, swiped away his plate (which still had food on it) and plonked his main course in front of him. It was one of the occasions when I really wish I had a decent level of French so I could complain. Then just as he had finished his main the waitress came over and handed us all the dessert menu. before clearing our plates. It was as if they couldn't wait to get rid of us.Just then a few more people came along and had to be seated, so it was about 15-20 mins before they then came back to take our order for dessert. So during the course of the evening we felt we were being rushed and then being ignored. Seriously they need to do something about customer service.The food itself was. ok! That's all.

Devoted to everything beef, as the name suggests. Located in the middle of other eateries this looks like an upmarket McDonalds. This is one of a chain of restuarants across France. The food is good but limited. I felt that the service I got was based on being a tourist rather than a local. Inside is air conditioned so that's a plus point, but there aren't very many others. We tried this as a change from other places around the square but I won't be going back again. The meat is supposed to be 1st class but I have much better from my own independant butcher at home, but without the premium price.

Really not the best meal. My wife had the grand Cesar Salad, and whilst it was grand, it wasn’t good. The chicken wasn’t breast meat and she said the lardons felt raw. She’s had three Cesar salads in the last two weeks and this was the worst.On the other hand I had a steak Tartare and it was really quite nice, not exceptional but quite good. So unless you really do need red meat I'd probably give this place a miss.

The steak was delicious, and staff were helpful and friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere to walk about in and see a few Loch Ness monster type scultures
