We last reviewed this restaurant in 2011, and decided that it was time to say that the restaurant is still a shining star. In the interim there has been a chef change, which can be traumatic for some restaurants, but in this case La Cape never missed a beat. One has to consider himself or herself truly blessed when a world-class meal is reliably available at a very, very modest price. This is surely the situation at La Cape. We have dined in this restaurant on many occasions, and it has never taken a wrong step. Service is always impeccable, and the staff friendly and professional. One can only wish there were more 42 euro Michelin one-star dinner menus of such a high quality. The best part...

We mulled over giving La Cape a 3 or 4 rating. We went on a Friday night and got the tram to Cenon (the restaurant is in an unusual spot, so don't go for the view!). They only offer a degustation menu on a Friday, no a la carte, which was fine at €52 pp.The service was efficient but fairly fast. We opted for a €20 wine paring which was perfect. The food was technically fabulous but there were certain touches we'd expect in a 1star in the UK that you don't get so much here. It's quite relaxed but you can't quibble with the price. One of the first courses was fois gras which just wasn't to my taste but the flavour combinations were excellent. There was a strange cheese course which came before t...

For a start, don't be surprised by the location, it a reconverted residential house..!We went there slightly less than a year ago, for dinner. A set-price menu was available, three dishes (entree-plat-dessert) for 42€, and considering the restaurant had then a Michelin star, we thought it was great - and still do, in spite of the place having since lost their star... Let's hope they get it back!Everything was very good, starter, from a taste, texture and presentation perspective - not molecular cooking, but advanced and creative use of traditional ingredients, such as mint and green peas, or chocolate and caramel.Wine was great as well, we had white Sancerre then red Saint-Joseph, a glass of...
