"We ate on the treetop terrace on a sunny evening in August, which was really lovely. The service was very attentive, no complaints at all. The menu looked very appetitsing and the dishes were very nicely presented, however the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. It was nice enough, but nothing was outstandingly delicious, there were a few problems with seasoning in particular. Expect to pay about €55 per person for an apero, three courses and wine."

My mother and I ran out of the rain into the closest restaurant and I'm so glad we did. The ambience was lovely, intimate and very "French". Our starter was mozzarella and tomatoes followed by mains of beef and mashed potato and I had shoulder of lamb with aubergine and mushrooms. The mashed potato was creamy, the beef was cooked perfectly and the lamb feel off the bone. There is a joint wine shop that also offers customers to purchase wine and drink it with their meal. Very yummy! A must and a perfect introduction to French cuisine on arrival.

Small restaurant, hidden behind an even smaller wine shop. The quality of the food and wine takes centre stage here, and can be depended upon whatever the season. The atmosphere is zany, as it is in other Montreuil restos. I love it in the winter when half the world is there and it is dark and warm and cosy. But I was equally dellghted to visit in August on the day they had just opened an outdoor space, where they've placed a table up a tree!Well worth a trip out on the metro . Not all things good are in the western suburbs you know!

La Cave is one of those mysterious places you tell your friends about when returning from a trip... "you enter a nicely stocked wine shop (Cave) and through a small passage you find a restaurant hiding in the back seating around 50 people. The food is very nice - wide choice but all seemingly well cooked and available. Instead of a winelist we were invited by our waiter to view the shelves in the shop. He was very knowledgeable and was careful to enquire what we were all eating before making suggestions - he got it right too.

We were taken here by my cousin who is Parisien and has his office in this neighbourhood. This is a wine merchant turned restaurateur. The food was perfectly prepared. My wife had fish with strips of vegetables cut like tagliatelle, I had a steak. Both were exactly correct. With hers there was a mousse aux courgettes that was light and luscious. With my steak were potatoes. Potatoes can be prepared many ways, and these were roasted in a light cream sauce. The wine that accompanied the meal was perfect.
