La Chaumiere is situated in the heart of the Lot-et-Garonne countryside, in the centre of a small village about 5 miles from Marmande. It serves traditional French home cooking. We have been eating here for several years, and the quality of food - always fresh & locally-sourced - is outstanding because the chef is passionate about serving the very best to his customers, and will do everything he can to meets his clients needs. There have been times when we have been embarrassed to say that we are allergic to some shell-fish, and without any hassle or annoyance, have been offered a superb alternative. The service from Marie-Claude is fabulous, and always friendly; you are made to feel like a special guest.. We love to bring friends and family to share the enjoyment because we, and they, love French family-cooking, and to enjoy it in a relaxed atmosphere. If you let them know in advance that you want an evening meal, they will do all they can to provide it. If you come on a friday they will probably invite you to play in the village Boules game and ask if you would like some supper before it. They often cater for local weddings and functions also, and of course village fetes. The price is excellent value. We can't wait to return!
