We were at la Cheneaudiere for dinner on 25 December, booked for 4 people. Location is beautiful and the Relais Chateau hotel structure looks modern, warm and beautifully designed. Same applies to the restaurant. The dining experience was less pleasant. First, we sat down and ordered some soft drinks relatively quickly to a waiter, but for the wine we had to wait for more than 20 minutes to be attended by a busy sommelier. After 30 minutes we could finally place some food orders that arrived much later, so just 1 hour after seating we had our appetisers served. Appetisers (smoked salmon and tris of foies gras were very good . Main courses arrived with some additional delay: we ordered some ravioli with lobster and fillets. Ravioli arrived cold so we had to send them back (both . Just for you to laugh: both Ravioli plates served three big raviolis. Of course in both plates a half ravioli has been eaten to try (and spot the cold temperature so 2.5 raviolis remained on the plates. Can you believe that the waiter brought back only 1.5 ravioli per plate? : a bit of a cheap call by such a classy restaurant we think. Fillets were good but not cooked as requested (a medium rare one was cooked medium to medium well . We did not try any cheese or dessert as we were well after midnight (and table booking was at 21hrs . For such a nice place, service has been slow, not particularly nice and I would say not even particularly professional. Some dishes were very good, some others not up to the standard. Wine service has been slow despite the high prices commanded. We have not been well served and we will not go back perhaps it was because of Christmas, perhaps the restaurant was too busy, but the exceptional prices require exceptional services.
