Todd’s La Colombe cafes are located in New York City , Philadelphia, Chicago, Seoul, and as of a few weeks ago, Washington, DC. We headed to his cafe after his presentation to try some of the coffee that he potentially risked his life to obtain. La Colombe’s DC location is located in an alley across the street from the Convention Center. Yes, we talking about the same alley as Rogue 24, Blagden Alley. La Colombe is a small (long and narrow partially unfinished) cafe, and is generally very crowded with coffee connoisseurs. I tried the single origin Kochere from Ethiopia which was delicious, had a natural sweetness, and opened up as it cooled. “S” enjoyed her cappuccino.

Carved into the wall. Usually, 'hole in the wall ' refers to a find of a restaurant in a challenged neighborhood. La Colombe 's Washington operation is almost literally a hole in the wall the alley facing side of a building. (Can be hard to find, for that reason. <br/ <br/ La Colombe is no more and no less than it needs to be coffee drinks and a few small snacks. It features bay doors for good or OK weather so essentially all patrons on many days are really sitting outside.<br/ <br/ Not least the superb beans of La Colombe.<br/ <br/ No more expensive than Starbucks.<br/ <br/ We really liked it.
Hidden on Blagden Alley NW in DC, but it is easy walk to get to if staying in the area. This is locate down a neighborhood alley and not easily spotted, but worth the hunt. You will know you are in the right area as it has plenty of artmurals around. You will also find the DC Alley Museum in the same area.Very welcoming place as it has an open design like you would find in a neighborhood like this. I got a ham and cheese croissant with my cappuccino. If you want to get a quiet coffee and breakfast away from the DC chaos, drop over here for a spell.
A charming little spot hidden in the alleyways of DC. We ordered two drip coffees and a latte, which came to around $20. The drip coffee was a bit sour and not the best, but the latte was quite good! There’s no Wi-Fi, so it may not be the best choice if you’re traveling internationally and don’t have service, but it’s a perfect place to enjoy a book, journal, or have a conversation. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms are clean. Reserva una mesa ahora
In my quest for the best coffee, this spot repeatedly emerged as the top choice for espresso in DC, and I can confirm it's not an exaggeration—it was incredible! Nestled in a construction-laden alley, this cozy coffee shop was lively and filled with people diligently working. If we weren't pressed for time with our flight, we would have loved to spend more time here.
Exceptional coffee that he sources himself. He hosts the TV Show, Dangerous Grounds on the Travel Channel and owns coffeehouses in Philly (3), Soeul (3), NYC (3), and DC (1). He also carries ever changing locally sourced baked goods. Small place and it is busy. It is in an alley near convention center.
I had a great experience at this coffee shop, which is conveniently located nearby. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was fantastic. Morning is definitely the best time to visit and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee!
This is the best coffee shop in town! I absolutely love the atmosphere and their coffee. The draft latte, in particular, is a must-try! I think their previous location in Shaw was much better than the current one in Chinatown. Reserva una mesa ahora
The service was fantastic, and the latte was incredibly delicious—prepared to perfection just as I ordered. The foam was creamy and silky. I highly recommend this place! Food: 5/5
One of the most delicious lattes I have ever had. I am big on coffee, and I highly recommend this place. Blagden Alley is a nice place to see—which is another plus!
