I highly recommend La Contrada. Food was absolutely delicious. It is a small, unassuming Italian-Mediterranean restaurant in a plain neighborhood to the west of the train station. The owner, Naim Ben Dhafer, genuinely enjoys serving delicious food and interacting with the clientele. When we told...him we enjoyed our dinner, he was so happy that he went skipping down the aisle! Nobody spoke much English, so ordering was a challenge, but if one is prepared to order without knowing exactly what you'll get, the sense of surprise was well worth it. I had an absolutely delicious fish, although I'm not sure what species.
After returning to Zurich for the first time in many years I was delighted to dine at such an exciting place. Eating out used to be a pretty dour affair in Zurich in the 1990s. Not any more thanks to the great waiting staff, the...roving musicians and of course the chefs behind the delicious offerings. We had mushrooms, fish, salad, desert and a very nice red wine. The company was also sensational and It was the best welcome we could have hoped for on our return to Switzerland. Don't worry about the neighborhood, embrace it as the new, exciting Switzerland.

Incredible. I stopped in after a full day of hiking activities (clean of course), so I was hungry. The owner was gracious and recommend a crops Muactt white wine for my appetizer, and a bold Tempernillo red for my main. Mixed grilled seafood, and the lamb and couscous special respectively. Best meal I had in Zurich.
