We enjoyed a good dinner for two on the terrace of La Ferte on an uncharacteristically quiet August Sunday evening in this usually busy resort town on the Bay of the Somme but the weather earlier in the day had probably discouraged visitors. So we had plenty of space for us and the retriever and were able to enjoy impeccable service and all three courses of the Menu Traditionnel which featured the local sea food stew - an abundance of mussels and shell fish with large portions of salmon and white fish in a lightly spiced sauce presented in a deep cassoulet. It was far more than we could eat and would have been ideal shared between two. The decor is modern and stylish and the location ideal at the port end of the main street through the town. Service was friendly and efficient and while the ambiance was not as lively as one would expect on a summer's evening, we were more than happy with our dinner even though we need to wear our cagoules through the latter part of the evening.

Arrived in St V looking for a meal on our first day and this looked the thing - pleasant surroundings and a fair priced menu including some local specialities. The service was, however, hit and miss with two pleasant young waiting staff seemingly a bit confused - and no sign of supervision. Food took rather a long time to come, when it did it came with chips some of which were not cooked through. Set price menu looked good value but turned out not to be - not bad but we didn't go back during our stay and ate at better places.

This business must be gold plated as I've never seen anywhere turn away so many people with an empty restaurant in the evening. Oh that's right it was only 2100 & the staff wanted to go home. Staff got my starter wrong I got the Picardy pancake ordered the rabbit terrine was met with a shrug off the shoulders luckily I like the Picardy pancake. For main I had a nice burger but the staff put me off a bit as they were desperately packing away.

Disappointed by our meal here. Not up to the usual standard of French food. Over cooked veg that was soggy, chips that were hard, pudding was a bit tasteless. Service was quick and polite but food left a lot to be desired.
