"friendly staff, good prices and an excellent choice of local fish and seafood make this a good choice in Le Boulou. Highlight of the meal was fish dish of the day, monkfish in a crab sauce served with a mini paella."

We saw the poster outside the restaurant for an evening with flamenco guitars whilst strolling about, so we booked a table. The place specialises in Catalan cuisine and the evening offered the Chefs recommendation fixed menu which was an excellent starter of fried squid, little red prawns, bruchetta with tomato and jambon sec and aioli. Entrée was Paella with pasta instead of rice, this had a great variety of seafood in it and good size piece of chicken. To finish the choice was cheese, profiteroles or crème Catalan, I chose the crème Catalan which was the only disappointment of the meal as it plainly was not made in the kitchen of the restaurant.. However, I shared it with my companion and...

Four of us, three French and one English went for Sunday lunch at La Fringale. Off season so not too busy. We met a very friendly reception and had a quick aperitif. We all enjoyed our food. One chef prepared all to a very good standard of local cuisine using local produce for the most part. I had a very tasty magret de canard salad starter. Sliced magret with a tranche of manchego partly covering a mixed salad with a fresh tangy dressing. Main course was Lot served with gambas, muscles with patatas and vegetables. Delicious. I had a standard Crème Catalane for desert, nicely flavoured. For wine we chose a local rosé that was very acceptable. Overall a very good meal, well prepared and serve...

Open on a Sunday. Popular with locals. Good service but there seemed to be some friction between the staff. Not directed at the customers. Good wholesome food. Had to sit inside which was a bit too warm. Outside was fully taken, it's clearly popular. Decent, honest food, freshly prepared and lots of bread available to mop up the lovely sauces. A vegetarian option or two would be helpful, but the chef was willing to adapt a regular dish to suit my daughters needs

We sat at a table at this restaurant for a drink with the intention of ordering food maybe half an hour later, unfortunately we did not get that far. We were informed in no uncertain terms that we could not have drinks on their own, we must have food too. This is a first for us in France and Spain, we decided not to bother, their loss not ours.
