La Frite Belgian Bistro

Received a recommendation to try La Frite Belgian Bistro, so came out on a Friday night after making a reservation. Very nice, intimate restaurant in Southtown. Only about 15-20 tables and it keeps the experience very personal. Was immediately greeted at the door and seated with my reservation. Waiter came to explain their menu, daily specials, Prix Fixe offering, and wine selection. With that, started off with a bottle of Grand Cru Riesling, escargot, arugula salad, watermelon salad, mussels, and some frites. This place is very small and intimate. My only 1 complaints would be that it was very warm in there. I actually enjoyed the food. The appetizer I order was the shrimp fritters I think and the sauce it came with was delish! I tried the onion tart and I have to say I did not like it much because I'm not a big onion person, but I was offered to replace it with the watermelon salad and oh boy was that yummy in my tummy ?. I had the Mahi Mahi fish w/ rice and veggies for my entree and wow the fish was very flavorful for sure. Well, the food is great, the atmosphere is solid. Only the right mix of pleasure and leisure. I really like this place and would have given a great rating, but... after the table went next to me and my girlfriend, someone came by to clean it, and did it by hitting Windex on the wooden table (what, Windex? and our food. Even if he hadn't met our food, we smell Windex for the next few minutes, which is not appetizing at all. That ruined my girlfriend's meal, of course. I think if I spend $120 for a dinner, we don't get windex in our food. Who on this planet uses aerosols to clean tables with guests?!

we have recently moved to sa and this is by far, hands down, the best restaurant I was still! we ordered the mosquitoes w fries, new england clam chowder, rack of lamb, ham / cheese/mosssroom crepe, chicken puff baked and chocolate mousse. all were for! customer service was excellent, they were so friendly and courteous, even offered to make an off-the menu item for children. this will definitely be our Go-to-Spot for visiting fam and friends! I wanted to make more photos, but it was too busy stuffing our face!

I have dined in La Frite several times in recent years and the food and service is always on the point.
