Since 94% of the reviews posted on TripAdvisor rated the Grange as excellent or very good, we decided to give it a try. Was it a nice experience? Absolutely. Is it an outstanding restaurant? Absolutely not. The trouble with the TripAdvisor rating system is that it doesn’t make a difference between a classic restaurant, a snackbar and a pizzeria. A few years ago, it rated a pancake restaurant as the very best restaurant in Paris! TripAdvisor would do its readers a tremendous service by comparing apples with apples and pizzerias with pizzerias by making a clear distinction between the different categories of eating places. As long as it doesn’t do so, the TA star rating system is meaningless....

All our local friends love this place. We went there for the first time at lunch, and no waiters were to be seen. We waited 20 minutes as other people were at tables and we sat down. The staff were chatting in the kitchen. They came out to serve food to others and completely ignored us for another 15 minutes. When eventually I got the attention of one of the waiters he casually replied "I 'll finish off my cigarette and then come to you!. We saw him sit down at the side and then smoke 3 (THREE! cigarettes in a row. Eventually we decided to leave and go elsewhere and another waiter then came up to us and said he would take an order. Rude and unfriendly just like his smoking buddy. We ordered...

This was a return visit as we were not staying in Vers this year but had loved visiting La Grange on the two previous years we stayed in the village. It's a lovely spot and is that bit different from the average village centre café. Our only grouse was the drastically reduced menu we were looking forward to the charcuterie/cheese selections but there was only one dish on offer. It was a nice dish, well executed and unusual (fennel bread pudding) but not what we had hoped to have. The ice cream is not worth going for it comes out of a machine which took ages to work and wasn't worth the wait. But good local wine, really decent coffee (so much coffee in France is made with UHT milk and tastes...

We were staying in Vers for 2 weeks and I visited here regularly for coffee. It has the most lovely settings at the main crossroads in the picturesque village where you can sit in the sun and soak up the ambiance. The cafe itself is very tastefully decorated and very cool. I also can 't fault the coffee here-definitely one of the better cups we had during our visit. The only negative was the service. This is not a personal attack on the owner (American? But honestly I felt us being there was an imposition on her! She looks disinterested and glum and this affects the customer-experience. I 'm sure this lady is extremely nice in reality but unfortunately we never got as much as a smile or a 'C... Reserva una mesa ahora

After a 19km walk it was great to sit beside the lovely shady Place de la Fontaine and drink a local beer and down a plate of sausages, BBQed red capsicum, potatoes with delicious olive accompaniment and a green salad. From other reviews it sounds as if service and food varies, but I was very happy with it all.

We stopped over for a quick pint of their local brew after a 10km walk around Pont du Gard, this quickly developed into another pint and a platter of cheese, dried sausage and hummus (all of which was delicious). Friendly staff located in a quaint little cafe. A surprisingly refreshing stop over.

I went there for breakfast with my friend. We ordered one . sandwich which was huge and chief was super nice. He wanted to make sure we enjoy our breakfast, invited to an evening event. This place is lovely, nice design and has it's authenticity of a small french village.

We enjoyed very much a healthy and tasty lunch, appreciating that everything was freshly made with lots of organic and local ingredients, and at fair prices. A good coffee and nice dessert topped off the experience, artisanal ice cream also available. Reserva una mesa ahora

The owners create an excellent brunch. Plat de Jour made to order. Delicious coffee. Ends with a bit of sweet; on our visit it was owner Amy's grandmother's pound cake recipe. Worth the trip to start the day. Check hours before heading there...
