This authentic Italian restaurant is quietly located on the charming Unionville Main Street. The building may be a bit old, but it has a staircase leading to the main dining hall and patio. Since it was a hot day on Labour Day long weekend and there was no air conditioning inside, we opted to sit on the patio. Despite the patio being full and only having two servers, we didn't mind waiting a bit - after all, it was a holiday. We ordered two set meals and were served bread, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and mild chilli in oil. From the first stages of planning this event, the owner Sabastian could not have been any more helpful. Any request was absolutely no problem. We had 23 people in attendance…all our food arrived from the kitchen piping hot and each course had a nice flow. Their homemade desserts are to die for…we tried the tiramisu and fruit sorbet both beyond good! The restaurant has a nice authentic Italian feel…the outside patio made us feel as if we were visiting Italy! For you pet lovers...they have a pet-fri...

Had an absolutely fantastic experience! We spontaneously decided to visit during the bustling Mother's Day weekend, and despite the crowd, the staff went above and beyond to find us a table. The wait for our food was a little longer, but trust me, it was well worth it. I highly recommend trying the shrimp appetizer, seafood pasta, and lamb—they were all incredibly delicious. The owner of the restaurant was exceptional; they were attentive, caring, and extremely helpful throughout our visit. And to top it all off, they surprised us with a complimentary bruschetta. Such a thoughtful gesture! We had a wonderful time and left with big smiles. Wishing you all an amazing day.

I dont normally do reviews but the service just sucks and how they package the pizza.Had to wait for 58 minutes just for a pizza and calamari. I was promised to wait for 25 minutes and to me it was ok. Since the patio has a lot of big mosquitos I have to walk around unionville while waiting. After 30 minutes, I went back to get it but they told me, “5 more minutes”. After waiting for another 18 minutes I got my pizza in a box under the pizza was napkin so it literally sticked to the pizza.Service was worst. My husband and I were looking for a tasty lunch in a cozy atmosphere and we got that and more at La Grotta on Main. Sebastian treated us like royalty and made us feel quite at home. Good food, good wine and great service. The wine list gave us information regarding sugar levels which was great for us. Also my husband is vegan and a yummy vegan option was available. We highly recommend stopping in if you're nearby.
I never ever have visited an Italian restaurant which serves pasta dry without no salt. Ordered a cappuccino and came semi warm and no taste of cinnamon or sugar. Appetizers dish came over cooked shrimp with calamari with bottle sauce. Veg appetizer with three piece of brichetta and some salad leaves with cheese and olives . Garbage food and no salt Luke warm pasta. Drinks I have ended up paying 405.00
I have been to La Grotta a few times and it never disappoints! I try different dishes and they all become my new favorite. The atmosphere is really nice, relaxing and cozy. Just had a birthday celebration there and the owner made sure we all had a great time at his restaurant. The servers are very professional and polite. This is the best hidden gem in Unionville.
