it is always difficult to comment when they know how much camping place and restaurant means to the owners live base. we came because we made a reservation. other campers had arrived and there was no prescription and no instructions. So it was a little bit. The food was perfectly adequate if a little expensive and the waiting and kitchen staff perfectly pleasant! HOWEVER I cannot emphasise enough the recommendation NOT to stay at the campsite. The owner Christophe is a drunkard that thinks it is OK to keep the entire...campsite awake at night by sitting with his bar staff into the early hours blasting out increasingly loud music into the wee hours of the morning. I confronted him at about the volume of the music to be basically told, it was his campsite and as the owner he will do as he wants. If you are staying in Exideuil either at the camp site or otherwise and wish to find a non-assuming place to eat, with reasonable friendly service and good prices, La Guinguette is a great option. It seems to be a bit of an...expat haunt, with many cars in the car park being British, and there's a nice atmosphere as everyone enjoys a drink or meal in the terrace. The surroundings are not fantastic: it's definitely not the place for a romantic meal, but if it's not overly expensive food you're after that's fine. my wife carol and I eat in the guinguette at least once a week fantastic eating and a beautiful atmosphere. we recommend it to all our holidaymakers with the knowledge they will never be disappointed! christophe and rianne are super host and nothing is. too much annoying!
