We went into to this bar/restaurant as my girlfriend had found it on the good life france website, with swings she wanted to visit. We got there at 14:30 on a Saturday to be told the kitchen was closed (they spoke no English or didn't want to). Being told this I turned to my partner to see if she wanted a drink instead. In the moments this took the waitress walked away, I tried to call her to order two beers but she didn't come. As a game and while swinging on the swing seat along the bar we waited to see how long it would take her to come to ask for our order. She served 3 groups of locals who wanted to pay or get drink top ups with each time me standing at the bar. In the end and after 5 min...

After we visited the zoo, we wanted to have some lunch nearby. We found this restaurant, which had a nice setting outside. We sat inside and our waitress came after five minutes. She did not speak English. We don't speak French, so that was a bit difficult. We ordered Potjevleesch (a local dish) and steak tartare. When the waitress returned with our food we weren't exactly happy to see what was on our plates. We weren't familiar with the dish Potjevleesch, so that could be expected. We didn't expect that we didn't even want to eat it. In the only experience we now have that dish tastes how it smells: like catfood. We both didn't like it (at all). Unfortunately my steak tartare wasn't what we...

This is a 'guinguette', a terrace on the riverside with accordeon music and popular ambiance: kids welcome, lovers & dancers of all ages enjoy the get-together. This brings joy to a rather sad area, the view on the Belgian riverside is not great. In Wambrechies, the first Guinguette is better situated at the yacht harbor. This one just opened when we got there, in June 2016.Food was average (except for the perfect foie gras, which does not need the local cook) because greasy and overbaked. We had andouillette and onglet. When we had finished, they came around with the same stuff (error in the kitchen!)...Service a bit 'the French way', but very kind and a perfect bill.

Cannot comment on the restaurant aspect of this place, but the choice of (largely) locally brewed draught beers (and a cider) could not be faulted. The barman was informative and happy for me to try a couple before deciding which to buy and the IPA, at around 5%, though a bit fizzy for my liking, had a decent flavour which cannot often be said for (not too strong) continental brews. The canal in front of La Guinguette runs east to west; so the sun sets perfectly for a warm end to the day with pleasant views towards the trees and the zoo on the far bank. Came here with a reservation made last month to celebrate with our son who was graduating from the local university. Found out that they cancelled it without notice--they stopped serving dinner on Sunday and Monday nights but didn't tell those who had reservations.Took 30 minutes to get a cab to get out of this out-of-the-way place in a driving rain. Owners couldn't be bothered.

We called into this restaurant during a 4 day visit to Lille. It was on a Thursday night at around 8pm and it was very busy. There was live music and the atmosphere was great and very French. The food however was poor, cold and the staff were very unhelpful and rude. We had a main course each and two beers which came to 60 euros. Overall not recommended or good value.

We stopped there on Sunday afternoon, for a beer and some food, but the waitress told us that it had been very busy and that most of the food and chips were sold out, so we only ordered 2 beers. After 10 minutes she came back and said they had small potatoes , so we could order from the card.So we had a very good Potje Vleesch.Good place on a sunday afternoon.

The first time we went, 10 of us enjoyed a long lunch with great food and lovely, helpful staff. My partner and I have been several times since on subsequent visits to Lille. If you want a real French atmosphere, go on a Saturday night when Bernard the accordion player plays old French tunes and the customers get up and dance! Reserva una mesa ahora

We went on two consecutive nights because we were so impressed. The food is traditional, but large servings of excellent food: e.g. Cassoulet, Carbonade, and Pork Shank. There is live music some nights.
