La Maison Des Vins De Barsac Et Sauternes

My husband and I were visiting from Canada. We showed up early for lunch but they went out of their way to serve us right away. Both our meals were delicious and we got to have a nice glass of Sauterne to accompany it. Both...the chef and waiter were attentive and friendly. They have a fantastic selection of Sauternes to purchase and helpfully gave us an impromptu tasting of the one we were eyeing (and ended up buying). And to boot, the music was great. A delightful experience.

Unfortunately, our experience was not good when visiting the shop. We have walked in hope, welcomed and advised to local wines and vineyards. The gentleman in the shop sat with a table on a chair looking at his laptop. He didn't recognize us... get in or offer help! That was a real shame because the store was wonderful. We went out feeling uncomfortable and unwilling.

We found the staff very helpful. We arrived just as they ended after lunch and stayed to offer us some nice snacks and also a selection of wines to taste. We returned for a great dinner. The food and wine were excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. A great experience!

The visit to this Maison du vin was a bit disappointing: The young lady explained nothing more than Shibboleth. Maybe it was because we went to business for a quarter to noon? Deity!

Perfectly pleasant shop offering a number of choices and good advice, but we popped in hoping for lunch which they no longer serve.
