Having walked in the countryside around Barsac we were hot and thirsty so popped into the maison des vins for a drink and glass of chilled Sauterne. We said we weren't eating so the owner sat us at a comfortable high table with stools and we had our drinks the inside was air conditioned too so on a particularly hot day this was very welcome. We quickly noted the food the diners were having and it looked too good not to try!! We were not disappointed although the menu was a little limited by the time we ordered we still had a good choice and got what we want. Barsac is tiny, however, there is a bright star shining right in the middle of it. The Maison is directly across the street from the church. The host is generous and the place is VERY well stocked. We were treated to a flight of wines to educate us on the region. Also, small plates are sold here, you can choose what you want from a variety of cheeses, pates, fruits, etc. It may not be full meals, but it worked for us. We were very comfy in the booth/sitting area while people watching and wine sipping. What a wonderful time. BTW, there is a chocolatier across the way. To be honest, the chocolate was so-so.
Light set lunch menu at the recently reopened Maison des Vins. Sea bream tartar with avocado and citrus dressing for entree, seared tuna or porc filet mignon for the main and raspberry sorbet for dessert. Two glasses of Barsac (Château d'Anna) and two glasses of white Graves two coffees at around 50 euro. Everything is well cooked and presented, much lighter than other options around, beautiful setup across the church of Barsac. Will certainly be back.
I don't know about the food, but as a tasting room for Barsac-Sauternes, it's a must-stop. Since Barsac is the only wine region to carry either of the two appellations, you get to taste the best of both worlds. They range from the lighter, less sweet, lower alcohol wines to their distinct opposites. For moi, a dyed-in-the-peel red fancier, I actually enjoyed the experience.

Unfortunately our experience of visiting the shop was not good. We walked in hoping to be greeted and advised on local wines and vineyard. The gentleman in the shop was sat by a table on a stool looking at his laptop. He didn’t acknowledge us walking in or offer any help! This was a real shame as the shop was wonderful. We walked out feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Stopped at La Maison at the recommendation of Chateau Coutet. The lunch on the patio turned from quick stop for lunch into an extraordinary gourmet experience. My wife and I ordered different items to taste the menu. It was more complex (very good complex) and delicious than expected. All paired with a local Barsac, our lunch was lovely and tasty. Highly recommended.
We found the Staff were extremely helpful. We arrived just as they were closing after lunch and they stayed on to serve us some nice snacks and also provided a selection of wines to taste. We returned for a great evening meal. The food and wine were excellent and the staff could not have been more helpful. A great experience!
The visit of this Maison du vin has been a bit disappointing: The young lady was not explaining anything that went further than shibboleth. Maybe it was because we entered the shop a quarter to noon? Pity!

very good reception, great tasting with good advice. We discovered several grasshoppers and we are absolutely not disappointed with our purchases!
Perfectly pleasant shop offering a number of choices and good advice, but we popped in hoping for lunch which they no longer serve.
