La Maison du Gruyère

The museum is nice but I had the worst experience ever in the restaurant. There wasn’t enough servers, it took more than 10 minutes to get the menú because the only server was really busy. In addition they had a kind of event inside the...restaurant so they didn’t allow us to sit in there so we were outside but people were smoking in the table right next to us. I think they should’ve designated an smoking and no smoking area if they had that event. At the end we left without eating because it was impossible to find an available server, the manager didn’t care about the complain when I talked to him and just left me talking alone …

We toured the factory and had some time before catching our train (trains depart every hour), so we decided to grab a bite. It was pretty crowded. We were having trouble finding a seat. We went to a table, but it had a reserved sign on it. The young man who ended up serving us told us we could have the table, that the reserved sign was for us. (points) Of course, we ordered cheese fondue for two. It was AMAZING. Fresh fruit with double cream - are you kidding me - total decadence - first cream from the cow, so thick!!! Espresso is served with a little chocolate filled with the double cream.

Resolvemos almoçar no local pq tinhamos que pegar o trem para a fabrica da Cailler e estávamos com medo de comer na cidade e perder a hora (a descida da cidade pra estação é pesada de escadas). O lugar claramente é mais frequentado por excursões, as mesas eram todas imensas. Estavamos somente eu e meu marido e tivemos que esperar algum tempo limparem uma dessas mesas imensas para podermos sentar. Depois de sentados, tivemos que esperar muito tempo e chamar o garçom diversas vezes para que fossemos atendidos. O foundue é muito gostoso e bem servido, mas não foi a melhor experiência do mundo.

This restaurant prepares their dishes in advance and seem to use a spice called aroma - which contains wheat - in everything. Even normally gluten free items, such as rostis, are made this way. Options offered? Lettuce with oil and vinegar; bare steak, or plain fondue. Restaurants in the town of gruyere are much more accommodating. Management here refused to do adjust their preparation in any way. Avoid.

A sensational place where you can taste the delicious gruyere cheese made right there. Plenty of choice of dishes. All very well prepared and delicious. We recommend to try all the Les röstis Röstis and all the desserts made with Gruyere Cream . We recommend...the meringue with double cream of Gruyere . On the way to the restaurant and beside it there are many cows that amuse us! Gorgeous! Fantastic!
